At 2pm today volunteers made their way to the incident, where a woman and three children aboard the dinghy were thought to be in distress.
When they got to the scene, the 16-foot Venture-class dinghy had been righted and made its way to shore unaided.
The lifeboat was not required to launch and was able to return to station 2.25pm.
A Llandudno RNLI spokesman said: “Whilst happily our services weren't needed on this occasion, situations like this can deteriorate very quickly and the member of the public who alerted the Coastguard with a 999 call so promptly definitely did the right thing. Ref Pioneer
