New bypass falls short of previous £14m plans as locals plead 'get on with it'
The bypass for Llanbedr was given the go-ahead in March 2020 but then scrapped in November 2021, with a new road scheme now being put forward for the village

North Wales Live readers have been voicing their opinions on the proposed new bypass for Llanbedr, expressing both frustration and optimism about its potential impact. However, the new plans fall short of previous proposals.

The revised relief road scheme, alongside other options, has been put forward for the Gwynedd village that lost its planned original bypass. The £14m bypass, initially given the green light in March 2020, was scrapped in November 2021 following the Welsh Government's climate change roads review.

Councillors throw out bid to build 36 homes near Gwynedd Aldi as they are 'out of reach' for locals
'The town is in dire need of affordable homes and social housing'

It was "hugely disappointing" that the homes were not affordable and "out of the reach" of local people," she said.

"They are priced around the £230,000 figure, a salary of 40k would be needed to own one of these houses, that is not the average salary in Pwllheli, it does not come close.

Huge zig-zag footbridge could leave people 'peering into homes' at North Wales seaside town
A new rail crossing is being considered as part of plans to increase services and get trains running faster on the North Wales mainline

Opposition is building over plans to close level crossings in a seaside town and build a railway footbridge instead. A petition has been launched in Prestatyn amid concerns a footbridge will allow users to peek inside nearby homes.

Wales is forecast to shrink as climate change accelerates erosion from the sea

At least the people of Llandudno will be protected now that the giant sea wall is near completion          ???

Warning to stay out of water at 22 Welsh beaches including popular North Wales spots
Surfers Against Sewage has warned that these sites have had pollution discharged into them recently

With this typically cold Bank Holiday weather I don't think anyone would want to go in the water

Freedom of famous Gwynedd beach now available to more people after investment
New additions at Morfa Bychan beach (Black Rock Sands)

The freedom to use a famous Gwynedd beach has been extended to more people after an investment. Wheelchair users will be able to enjoy the popular Morfa Bychan beach (Black Rock Sands) after Cyngor Gwynedd bought purpose-built wheelchairs.
Let's just hope that the wheelchair users are more responsible than the motorists that get stuck in the sand at that location        ;D

Social Housing Provider Acquires Key North Wales Site

Social housing provider Cartrefi Conwy has acquired a key piece of land at Dinerth Road, Rhos-on-Sea, from the Welsh Government.

A new housing development on the site will address local housing needs identified in the Bay of Colwyn Place Plan, focusing on affordable housing and the repurposing of underutilised spaces.
“We are delighted to have secured the Dinerth Road site and look forward to working with the local community to create high-quality, affordable homes that meet the needs of local people. This development represents a fantastic opportunity to provide sustainable housing in a way that respects and enhances the surrounding area.”
I hope that CCBC  ensure that they are only for local people as Cartrefi Conwy has promised

Alarm bells ring at Gwynedd's tiny 'Church in the Sand' as disturbing trends emerge
It's been a place of worship for almost 1,600 years

“These are supposed to be places of refuge and tranquillity, where people go to worship or seek solace - but all too often they are being subjected to heinous crimes, either in or on their property.

“Irrespective of faith or none, churches are more than just community buildings, they are often part of our centuries-old history and heritage. They must be protected.”

Major new 130-home estate could be built on edge of North Wales town
All of the homes on the estate would be affordable, according to an application

The plans include a mix of 16 one-bedroom apartments, eight one-bedroom bungalows, four two-bedroom bungalows, 53 two-bedroom houses, 39 three-bedroom houses and 10 four-bedroom houses plus a play area. All properties will have electric car charging points.According to documents submitted by Anwyl with their application, the development will provide 130 new affordable homes with a range of house types to create a balanced community. There is a genuine and acute need for the proposed affordable homes, they said.
Anwyl seem to be building homes all over North Wales, that is apart from the West Shore in Llandudno
