Thanks for that Hugo, I will look them up.  Looks like I will be indoors for the next few days , next sunshine for here is late Monday .

Enjoyed the West shore one, brought back happy memories of when my mum and dad lived at West Shore and visits with the family.
Although I can remember some grim weather days in the 1970/80's.  Remember attempting a walk from Pont Y Pant station that had to be abandoned due to torrential rain. Sitting in the shelter on the platform trying to entertain the boys for what seemed like hours waiting for the train back to Llandudno. The walk was my idea so I was not very popular.

Thinking about the privacy issue----- I suppose it was not the wisest place to take someone else wife.   ;)

Yesterday evening the weather was perfect for seeing the sunset from our house in Colwyn Heights.     The sea was like a mill pond and the visibility was excellent.      We watched the sky continually changing colour as the Sun was setting and the Isle of Man was clearly visible, so too was part of Northern Ireland.
Conditions have to be right to see that far but in the past we have also seen the Cumbrian Hills and the Scottish lowlands have been visible from our lounge

The sunset last night wasn't as good as the previous night but it was still nice to watch.    We are able to see the Isle of Man from here because of the height where we live.    It's 61  miles away and Northern Island is 126 miles away as the Crow flies.
I've attached a few photos of some of the Sunsets that we have had from here in the past.

St. Swithin's Day, observed on July 15th, is a day in English folklore associated with a weather-related superstition. The legend states that if it rains on St. Swithin's Day, it will rain for the next 40 days, and if it's fair, the next 40 days will be fair as well. This belief stems from the story of St. Swithin, a Bishop of Winchester who requested to be buried outside, where rain could fall on his grave. His remains were later moved inside the cathedral on July 15th, and legend has it that a storm erupted, signifying his displeasure.

Yesterday was St Swithen's Day and it certainly pouted down with rain so it could also be a sign that the School holidays are on the way!

Live updates - Storm Floris 'stay away' warnings and travel alerts issued
‘Do not travel’ and ‘danger to life’ alerts have been issued in parts of Britain

The weather isn't too bad up on Colwyn Heights at the moment but I expect that it'll get worse later on.     Winds of 68 mph were recorded in Scotland about an hour ago and the forecast is for them to get worse during the day.     I hope that our forum friend Mull is safe and warm up there and doesn't have any structural damage caused by the storm

Hi Hugo, all OK so far, house is now shaking.  All ferries cancelled for the day so nothing much happening.

We have had plenty of warning to secure everything. With it being this time of the year it is wrecking the garden I have just been out to move the Agapanthus pots to a more sheltered spot , wind is now swinging west. Honeysuckle is very good this year but is now being battered . Wind is burning all the leaves off everything else.

Never mind, it is what it is.

Stay safe.

The wind has built up here now and I've had to put the metal garden furniture on the floor as a precaution.        I've got some Agapanthus too but mine are in the window box and can't be moved so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they don't get damaged
I do have some giant Begonias in pots and they were doing ok but the stems are quite fleshy and break in high winds but I can't move them anywhere
Let's hope that we get through the Storm ok with no damage to the properties or the garden

About time , shopping in Fort William yesterday it felt like Autumn, late September/early October.

Bacek at home garden and local trees are all burnt brown by the stormy winds. After a hot spring it has been all downhill ,the worse summer for several years.
