Pier boss hails 'unbelievable' worldwide support but says Victorian kiosks' roofs damaged
Llandudno Pier and buildings wrecked by Storm Darragh as gusts up to 93mph struck North Wales
At least the Pier survived unlike the previous one in 1859

Trying to Survive STORM DARRAGH in Llandudno

Trying to Survive STORM DARRAGH and Measure the Wind Speeds! Travelling over to Llandudno and Conwy to measure the wind speeds and gusts among the chaos and the gales and boats being caught loose in high seas. Storm Darragh was recorded officially at 93mph nut I claimed 94mph while Llandudno pier was being torn apart!

Another local video from Storm Darragh on the 7th Dec.  again like the above post, the number of people and vehicles putting themselves at risk seems very thoughtless...................

The weather was wild up here on Colwyn Heights last night.     The gale force winds were making our security lights come on all the time.  It was just like a disco so at 1.30 am today I had to go downstairs to switch the lights off or otherwise I'd have no sleep.
This morning I took our dog out for a walk and the wind was bitterly cold and then the hail stones startyed belting down before I got home.    I'm not going out again until it's time to take our dog out again in the afternoon
It's a westerly wind so I would imagine that the West Shore in Llandudno is quite wild too

Foot of snow possible as three-day Met Office weather warning issued
The Met Office warned as much as 30cm of snow could fall on higher ground
If the snow falls as predicted I just hope that people who venture on to the mountains are responsible and properly equipped for the conditions.    The MRT's are fully stretched as it is

Met Office update on chances of snow as 2025 starts with winter cold snap
A three day weather warning for snow has been issued with up to a foot possible in parts.      It was cold up here on the Heights this morning but it doesn't look like it will snow at the moment.       I'm off out tonight so I hope that the snow doesn't come then as the steep hill can be tricky in snowy conditions

When and where snow is forecast to fall in North Wales and how weather is set to change
A snow and ice warning comes into force this weekend covering the whole of Wales and most of England

When I got up this morning the temperature in the house was only 13 C   so when I took my dog out for his early morning walk I put on all my Winter walking gear including my puffer jacket but after the walk I was uncomfortably warm so when I got home I changed in to my normal clothing.     Outside there was no wind and no sign of frost either, in fact it was quite pleasant for this time of the year, but how long will it last?

It has started snowing here on Colwyn Heights and the snow is sticking now.     It's not too heavy at the moment but it could change overnight

Just a little bit of snow here on the Flintshire/Denbighshire border this morning. We’re a little bemused by the disruption being caused nationwide though. I honestly can’t understand why we can’t cope with what is generally a light fall of snow when other snowier countries just keep calm and carry on. A few years ago, we flew from Berlevag airport in Northern Norway in the tail end of a blizzard and yes, the flight was slightly delayed but the runway had been kept clear and the little Dash8 plane was able to land and take off without any problem.

It is only a small airport with the same staff member checking documents and handling luggage. The main issue was the broken drinks vending machine but that was overcome by the staff member supplying waiting passengers with drinks from his office kettle. If they’re watching our newscasts, they must be having a good old giggle.

Norway is such a beautiful country SAJ and it certainly gets its fair share of snow.   I've only been there once and that was on a cruise in the Fjords, we were in Bergen in July and the temperature that day was very high, yet the snow still remained on the peaks
Last night we had a snowfall and it must be about 4 inches deep, we don't have to go anywhere today so my car is staying put and I won't dig the snow out of the drive just in case it snows again

Same up in the mountains. We're almost a thousand feet amsl yet the amount of snow, considering the near hysterical warnings of heavy snow "a foot or more", was a little short of 4".  Seems to be the pattern for the met office now; highly dramatic 'warnings', which often fail to live up to their foreboding content.

I have noticed a lot of "Hysterical" weather warnings recently, I put it down to "covering their backs after some bad press..........

Met Office accused of incompetence in ‘clear underestimation’ of Storm Bert as clear-up continues....https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/storm-bert-weather-met-office-uk-b2653497.html

The weather forecast is difficult to predict anyway as it can vary from locality to locality.    My walking buddy old Uncle Albert lives in the Porthmadog area and he sent me a photo of his back garden today  and there was not even a snowflake in sight
There has been a lot of hype about the snow this time though but at least we should have all been prepared for it.     Let's hope that the Mountain Rescue teams do not have to go out in this weather.

I had to smile when I read this:

"Labour MP for Cardiff West, Alex Barros-Curtis, said warnings issued by the Met Office on Storm Bert should have been “amber or red...Our constituents have been let down by this incompetence before, and it cannot keep happening.”

Well, MPs talking about incompetence is faintly ironic.
