Hugo, pleased to hear you survived the storm on Sunday.

Up here Sunday afternoon was rough then it ramped it up to 78 MPH on Tiree in the evening, which is only a few miles west of here. There had been plenty of warning of what was coming and I think everyone around here just hunkered down, including Fly the dog. I tried to push her out of the door about 1900 and she just took one look at it and came back in and must have crossed her legs.

More damage was done the previous Saturday 12th, Rally Weekend. Wind was North at 62 mph and we lost a Lilac Tree, I had put a heavy stake in and roped it but was almost ripped out of the ground, We will have to see if it recovers. Pity as after being in the ground about 20 years and not doing much this past summer it has been better than ever.

Britain is set for an Arctic blast in the coming days - but reports of a “wall of snow” are probably wide of the mark, a BBC forecaster has said. Simon King was responding to claims that a looming snow storm was set to produce a “700-mile wall of blizzards”.

Weather models show a colder snap on the way this weekend and some forecast snow. One chart indicates up to 7cm could fall over North Wales next week, some in low-lying areas. Another forecasts depths of 3cm, mainly on the hills. Earlier models were showing much bigger accumulations.................https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/what-met-office-others-say-30347814

North Wales coastal flood alert issued as people urged to take care near the sea
A weather warning for snow and ice is also due to come into effect tonight
At least Llandudno is safe from flooding thanks to the additional sea defence on the West Shore          ???

Well the snow has finally arrived here on the heights and there is about an inch of it on the ground now.     It's icy cold too and I had to walk our dog Teddy on a lead in the back garden as he had a minor op on his eye last week and has to wear a "lampshade" for protection.      Teddy loved the snow and even used the lampshade like a snow plough,  I think that he was reluctant to come back in to the house but I was freezing out there so we did come in after a short while

Storm Bert to hit North Wales this weekend with downpours, 70mph winds and flooding
The Met Office has now named the weather front heading for Britain
That's a comforting thought for the weekend     :(

The rubbish bins were not collected yesterday and when I phoned CCBC today the reason they weren't collected was because of the adverse weather conditions.  They will double up on the next bin collection date.
While I was on the phone to CCBC we had a very heavy hail storm and our steep drive was covered in Hail which I cleared up straight away as our dog has an appointment with the Vet this morning.
I wonder what the weekend will throw at us?

I was supposed to be going to Trac Môn (Anglesey Race Circuit) for a major car stage rally, but it has been cancelled due to the weather outlook, and rally people are a hardy bunch!  I have been at that venue in everything from a snowstorm to a heatwave over the years, but safety is now paramount, of marshals as well as competitors, hence the cancellation.  After all the preparatory work that the organisers, Caernarvonshire & Anglesey Motor Club have put in, it is a shame that it has all come to nowt.

The weather in the UK is so unpredictable you really can't forecast what is going to happen.    I remember you posting a photo of yourself and a car that was stuck in the snow on a stage in a rally around the Marine Drive on the Great Orme, who would have predicted that?
According to the BBC Wales gales are forecast on Anglesey for Saturday,  Sunday and Monday so conditions wouldn't be good even without the snow

Rare red wind warning issued as Storm Darragh approachesThe warning is in place from 03:00 to 11:00 GMT on Saturday, covering western and southern coastal regions of Wales as well as the Bristol Channel in England.

Yellow wind warnings are in place for swathes of the UK on Friday, with amber warnings covering the west coast of England and Wales, as well as Northern Ireland, on Saturday morning.    At the moment it's quite calm up here on Colwyn Heights, but is this the lull before the storm?

The house was shaking last night with the strong gusts of wind but hopefully no damage has occurred     I put the garden furniture down but the empty garden waste bin has been moving about a bit
Hope that you are safe and warm up there on the island and have no ferry crossings planned for this weekend

I checked out 'You Tube' news channels this morning, it took me awhile to realise just how many people were outside watching the effects
of the storm.......... a couple taking their 5 year old to see the big waves..........a husband filming his wife and dog as the waves crashed around them........a elderly woman walking her dogs, being blown off her feet............a crowd of about 20 at the end of a break water with crashing waves over them...............it made me wonder if these are the same people who go mountain walking without the proper gear, and have to be rescued..............  :o
