There was a Creams booking office at the old Astra/Odeon, I think?

Quite right Dave, there was. I always remember their coaches parked along the Deganwy Avenue side of the building.

Any idea where the Llandudno Motor Station was located?

This might sound stupid... but was it ACTUALLY located outside Llandudno?
It seems too much of an iconic building to have gone unnoticed..

Are we looking at a trick question, of sorts?

Quiz Time is supposed to be within the Three Towns area so it must be around here somewhere.   Creams are shown as in Vicarage Avenue but I doubt if it was there.  I've searched every data bank I can find and have absolutely nothing!

On second thoughts - If Creams parked their coaches outside the Astra, maybe the Motor Station was next to or opposite in Deganwy Avenue?

Looking at the photos of the Motor Station and Astra, there's quite a bit of similarity in the ground floor design - was it a design that was modified and the cinema was built on that site instead of the garage maybe?

It's pretty obvious that the original building is not around now or, as you say, has been drastically modified or re built!    WWW

Good point DaveR, was it possibly built on the same site & subsequently replaced by the Astra with Creams Coaches remaining there in a smaller capacity?

 &well& Dave, I knew you'd get it......eventually.

The Llandudno Motor Station was built on the site of a market garden called The Vinyard and run by the Brierley family, who operated Creams Coaches. Many people believed that the Winter Gardens complex was originally built on the Vinyard site, but in fact the Winter Gardens were built out of the shell of the Llandudno Motor Station.

Compare the two pic's and look at the similarity of the bottom of both buildings.

Additionally, look at the ramp on the Deganwy Ave side of the Llandudno Motor Station - that was used at the Winter Gardens/Odeon/Astra for many years to load items into the building. I seem to remember "Herbie" - "The Love Bug" driving up there at one time.

Great quiz Trojan, had us (me anyway) really searching around.  It is amazing how much I am learning about the area as a result of the quizzes.   I just couldn't find the right keyword for this one but got near in the end so I'm reasonably pleased.  This DaveR is something else - what a knowledge!    D)
