Question - If a family came to Llandudno this week for a half term break, what do you think there is for them to go and see at Venue Cymru for the remainder of this week?

Answer – King Lear by William Shakespeare.

Do you often talk to yourself Bri?  ???

Been down the Links tonight?  ZXZ

I used to drag my kids to see Shakespeare plays  at various castles over the years,  and they absolutely loved them, - they were informal outdoor productions (take a chair and a picnic )  I would imagine the price of the tickets would be quite high at Venue Cymru

£10 - £28.50 depending on day.

Concessions: £2 off top 2 prices for Senior Citizens.

suepp, it seems kids pay the same as adults which doesn't seem quite right.  *&(

During half term - save some money and get the kids up the Great Orme in the fresh air !

We recently had family over who's children had their holidays last week and they had a great time on the Rocking Stone and searching for caves. It was freezing but good old fashioned fun. (We bought a map from the Rest and Be Thankful after seeing it somewhere on here   :)

The children absolutely loved it and we saved a small fortune (considering it can cost us between £30 -£100 just to take the family to the pics or the theatre now!)

Absolutely right Curly Cap.

My first visits to the town involved Great Orme trekking, and when you are young you might not appreciate it, but its the best thing for them.

Now, when my family visit, the nephews and neices can't wait to get out and about around the Orme.

That's pretty similar to me, we used to trek the Orme as kids and now we've got our own children you can really appreciate that it's the simple things like walking, climbing and just getting out and about together that builds a memory!

There's a place for Play Stations and Nintendo's, etc, in small doses.....but you can't beat the Great Outdoors ! (Says me, addicted to this thing and sitting at the computer for hours !!!!   )

but, to get back to Bri's post
How many people are actually interested in Shakespeare nowadays, it must be a really small minority
and I agree with Bri's thinking that something more modern, fun and in tune with what kids want today should be appearing at Venue Cymru during the school holidays.

This might be more enjoyable for kids, and a great introduction to Shakespeare, in  preparation for when they have to study it at GCSE!

Merddin Emrys if you ever feel like seeing any Shakespeare you can often find an outdoor production during the Summer, at places like Conwy Castle and Bodnant gardens, (not the Great Orme unfortunately, shame there isn't an open air theatre there)  :'(

My favourite ever was Macbeth at Denbigh Castle which was an amazing setting, chilling in all senses of the word!  My daughters boyfriend came with us last time  to Conwy Castle, (I think it was Two Gentlemen of Verona)  not expecting to enjoy it at all but thought it was fantastic and wants to go again next time.

I studied Shakespeare at school and liked it.....then I went to an outdoor performance of Shakespeare at Rhuddlan Castle.

I loved the atmosphere, but didn't understand a word of it.   I fell out with Shakespeare that night.

In that case, somebody should have considered offering a concession for children and/or an option for parents to purchase a family ticket.
