The Thai airforce were dropping some type of "needles" onto the clouds so that the clouds would discharge the rain so it would fall in Thailand.
How does that work then ?

My brother has just gone out there and will be going up to the northern areas where the floods started so I hope that he'll be ok too.

Hugo, my daughter sent me this link a few days ago to the BBC website.

By coincidence, this gentleman is a teacher at my daughter’s school in Central Bangkok and he lives to the north of the city.

So I sincerely hope your brother was successful in making his journey from the Suvarnabhumi airport to his destination up north.

Here is a link to some great photographs which show how bad the situation is.

What a brilliant piece of flying, text book landing under the circumstances.

Those are amazing photos, Yorkie, and to think that was three weeks ago when the situation was not as bad then as it is today.

Assailant suffers injuries from 'fall'
Special to The Police News
May 20, 2011
AUGUSTA, GA - Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Ga. told police he observed a customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveilance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket.  When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.
Outside on the sidealk were four Marines collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program.  Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpt. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.
After police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, Cpt. Duggan was taken for treatment.
"The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw ..... injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off the curb after stabbing the Marine," according to a police report.

That last paragraph is just priceless!
Apart obviously from Cpt Duggan getting stabbed it's a great story but you can't help wonder what the police report would say if it was over here (sadly!)

In the Courts it used to be, "He fell up the Charge Room steps, Your Worship!"    _))*    _))*

Injuries were not quite so bad as the previous though.

I've had a great time this week clearing my Mums loft.  It was like going back in a time machine.  When we were kids she used to make all our clothes for us and yesterday we found a box full of all the 1970s patterns.  We had a laugh looking through the box remembering the outfits she had made (she was an excellent seamstress)  One of my favourite outfits was a pair of........wait for it.... Holly Hobby dungarees  ;D I have a photo somewhere but for obvious reasons I'm not uploading it on here.  She made my Dad the bat winged shirts and the flared trousers too.
The highlight was when we found her original Afghan coat must be 40 + years old.  It's in excellent condition but needs a good dry clean as long as I never get rid of it she says I can have it  :P  It's lined with wool so there's no chance of me being cold this winter.  I'll just have to get a mortgage to pay for the dry clean now.

My Mum and I have a passion for miniatures but we like modern items not the Victorian mass produced stuff.  My Mum decided she wanted her dolls house to resemble her own and so set about making her own miniature furniture exactly the same as hers.  Below is the cooker she made I think it's fantastic, it's even got food she made in the oven.  She made the washing machine, tumble dryer and the table and chairs.

Unfortunately the grand kids have taken a closer look too and so the door of the cooker needs repairing.
