Thanks very  much for that information Cambrian and your too on Craig Y Don Dave but it doesn't look too good for an early solution
We have all seen this type of problem on TV before but you don't really appreciate it until it happens to you.      It is affecting everyone in many different ways so hopefully the sooner  it is sorted out the better
I've just had a look at my gas central heating boiler and the water pressure on the dial is non existent so I won't turn it on just in case it is dangerous

Mrs H  phoned a friend who lived in Llanrhos and she is still cut off and she has had to order bottled water online.   I would imagine a lot of people will be doing the same so we ordered a supply online too.and the water will be delivered on Sunday

Same here Hugo, we saved some water, but forgot to re pressure the boiler  :-[  I did a search but nothing positive, check link below.

Thanks for posting that link Steve, our boiler does have some form of cut off safety device on it but I'm taking no chances and it's staying off until the water system returns back to normal.      We do have a gas and electric fire for warmth and also use plastic discs that go in the micro wave so we won't freeze
Just after my last posting our door bell went and I had a lovely surprise when Sam,  a neighbour from across the road came and brought 6 large bottles of water for us.   It was a wonderful, kind and thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated.   We are so lucky to have such nice neighbours as Sam and Carla and they have done the same gesture for other neighbours too.

Your Boiler will always show a low water pressure when it is switched off, typically around 1 - the reading will increase once it comes on and warms up.

When warmed up (after 10 mins or so), it should show a pressure reading of between 1 and 2 (I've attached a photo of my boiler's dial to show a correct reading). Shouldn't be lower than 1 or higher than 2.

Major traffic jams as people queue at water stations amid major mains burst
Two stations have been opened in Conwy which are packed with people trying to get supplies

I feel sorry for all the passengers in that double decker bus, they'd be quicker walking.

'

'Thanks very much for your advice Dave, it is really appreciated.    My boiler has a different dial to yours and mine when it's off will always have the red needle about half way on the dial.       At the moment the needle is on the low side but the boiler has fired up and the radiators are getting hot so that's good because it's pretty cold up here on the Heights at this moment
I've waited a while and the needle has risen only slightly but I'm keeping the heating on as it's so cold here.     In the past the boiler has cut off when there has not been enough water in the system so if there are any problems it should do that again.

It's going to vary according to where your house is. Low lying houses will get their systems charged soonest, but some high level dwellings may also benefit, as the level rise in the multiple high level reservoirs becomes available quickly.

It should be fine to run, Hugo, but it would probably benefit from a small top up of water when you can get it done.

Thanks Dave, it worked well last night when we needed it but I did think about the safety features on it.     They have worked in the past so the boiler will be on again tonight and asap I'll top up the boiler anyway
Thanks again for the advice

DaveR...... My thanks too, like Hugo I was a bit wary, but a quick phone call to my plumber, and after checking the make of my boiler,  he confirmed your advice.

Yesterday was hectic for us, after seeing various vehicles delivering water in the neighbour hood, we contacted Welsh Water call centre to query why we were being missed, we were advised only people on the vulnerable list getting deliveries, when we told them I had been on the list for six years, that's when it kicked off, after a long winded load of BS, we were told it could have been part of a 'Data Dump' and if we wanted reinstated it would take five days, "£$%^&*()

I contacted Harry Saville one of our local Gogarth councillors who answered .........

I believe that water is being distributed to individuals on Dŵr Cymru’s Priority Services Register – this doesn’t automatically mean that all vulnerable households have had water provided.

I know that Conwy CBC have been liaising with Dŵr Cymru to get water provided to those who need it but may not be on either the Register or known to Conwy’s Social Services.  In some cases this has happened reasonably quickly.

I’ll pass on your details to both Conwy CBC and Dŵr Cymru.

At 6pm our neighbour visited a water station and passed us 8 litres, closely followed by both Gogarth councillors Harry Saville and Louise Emery delivering water to the area, and at 9.30 pm Welsh Water staff delivered a further 8 litres, so drinking water now in good supply, hopefully.

The Welsh Water staff who delivered our water had come up from Cardiff to help out, they also suggested that a complaint be made regarding our phone treatment earlier.

I suggest that anyone who thinks they are on or should be on a vulnerable list, double check all service Gas, Electric Water and phones etc

The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free UK wide service which provides extra advice and support, including when there’s an interruption to your electricity, gas or water supply..........

Purely a rumour but water could start again over the weekend, as Ian said depending on where you live, we are getting a trickle at the moment, but can hear air in the system !......... :-\

Water was back when I got up at 8am this morning - spluttered a bit and slightly brown.
Turned the shower on and got steam for a few seconds, then boiling water even though it was set to cold!
I live in Llandudno Junction, so closer to the reservoir than Llandudno!

DVT....Yes, back on here at West Shore too, a friend got a shock when the cistern started to refill the noise and spluttering gave her a fright, especially as she was sitting on the loo at the time..........  :o
