The Amber Coffee Shop in Colwyn Bay has a sign in the window advertising "Closing down sale - everything must go".  As it's been closed for about a year I'm assuming this means they're flogging off the fixtures and fittings.  From what I remember it used to quite nice inside so this might be an opportunity for anyone planning to open or revamp a cafe/coffee shop/Staffordshire Oakcake shop in the near future.

She has been open, but the last I saw was that she had had an equipment failure. Haven't been past since.

Latest:- Stew and a roll £1.99.

As long as Stewart doesn't mind that's good value...

Pop into Café Nero and you might be surprised to meet Lord Mostyn...

"Lord Mostyn speaks Japanese, supports Arsenal and is the 13th richest person aged under 30 in the UK – just behind Harry Potter superstar Daniel Radcliffe.

But many people don’t believe he’s a baron.

“They kind of think it’s a joke,” shrugs this charming 28-year-old, who with his family is worth £48m, according to The Times rich list. (The apprentice wizard of Hogwarts is worth £60m).

But Greg Mostyn isn’t the type to count his money in his baronial pile of Mostyn Hall near Holywell as he takes his responsibilities, primarily as a landowner in Llandudno and across the region, very seriously.

He says: “I’m learning accountancy, finance, law, geography, property, real estate – that’s very important. Generally meeting my employees, tenants, people in the town – seeing how they’re doing and their opinions.”

He modestly accepts the £48m figure is true but seems unfazed by such illustrious company in the richlist.

He says: “I think what Daniel Radcliffe has done is fantastic. Good luck to him. He’s a great performer.

“For me, though, however everyone else is doing I just focus on my business. I’ve got everyone to thank at the office and in the community for helping my estate.

“Things like that in the richlist it’s a nice thing I guess but I don’t really pay too much attention to it because the history behind the estate matters more. It’s an honour and a duty for me to do my bit for the town. That’s the most important thing.” He’s referring to how The Mostyns developed the town.

“Llandudno has been around for centuries but we had a part to play in developing it 150 years ago, the 2nd baron and all that.”

We meet in an upstairs room at Café Nero in Mostyn Street, the street name is not a coincidence. As I walk in, he’s sitting at a corner table looking at his phone and sipping an espresso. A smart but unassuming gent."

Mrs Fester met him on the train from Chester a couple of weeks ago.
She didn't know who he was, and just thought he was a pleasant and unassuming young chap, who was looking forward to going for a game of pool that very afternoon.  They chatted for quite a while.

He even had his cue with him, and it was another passenger that was in the conversation who mentioned to my wife that their travelling companion was indeed Lord Mostyn.

Why all the fuss about someone who is where they are purely because of an accident of birth?  &shake&

Because of Mostyn Estates' influence in the area, I imagine.
