I see Mr M Cooney is applying for a license on 129 mostyn street the old Gimberts Shop as if there weren't enough bars in the area. Cant quite understand why as he has a bar further up the street.

Rumours are rife regarding china cave becoming Costa coffee. How much coffee can we drink

And another rumour is that Yates bars are moving into the tudno Castle hotel

Enough bars in the area? ???

Llandudno has about 15 pubs - hardly a large amount for a town of its size and one that is very busy with tourists in the summer.

Correct Norm!

Mrs Fester and I went out for a few drinks early on Valentine's night.
At 8.30pm, The London, The Fountains, and Cooneys had a total of ZERO customers.

Even the famous Home Cooking Restaurant had only one table occupied.

Born to Run.... in the face of so many closures, would you open a bar in these impossible times?

Surely Valentines is a night more for restaurants rather than pubs & bars?

After a very pleasant morning at the Quay Hotel Spa yesterday, we decided to go for food at the Olive Grove in Deganwy (opposite the junction with Marine Crescent).

Run by two lovely ladies, who I believe are sisters, they offer a selection of light meals (paninis/sandwiches etc), cakes, together with the usual hot & cold drinks. All the produce used/sold is locally sourced. There's also a Deli which offers takeaway food. Anyway, I had a Stilton & Bacon Panini, which was gorgeous.

The only slight drawback might be that table space is limited, so it will get busy very quickly. But it's very much worth a visit, I strongly recommend it!  $good$

Bars in Llandudno are in the main over priced, badly serviced and boring - no wonder they have no customers

Like Born2run i think the quality of our pubs is crap and overpriced,i think the Albert,Kings Head,Queen Vic,Cottage Loaf,Lillys,Links,Fat Cat,Fountains are ok,only ok ,as for the rest i would never go near only on a pub crawl at a push.We can;t force anybody to spend money on their buisnesses,as we can;t force anybody to invest in a Betty;s style cafe, the town seems to be a grab the money and run place,no real investment in cafe;s or bars.Lots of these places are run by Rhyl folk and we have seen what happened there.Obviously by the time you pay rent, rates, wages i don;t suppose there is much left for decent pubs or cafes.

Have to agree with you both!

I think the Carlton would be an ideal site/building for a Bettys style cafe.

Mr Nicholas White has applied to CCBC for grant of a premises licence for Dr Jones Bar & Grill at 129 Mostyn Street, Llandudno LL30 2PE.

Is that the empty Gimberts shop?

Thank you, DaveR.

I hope Mr White remembers the apostrophe after the 's'.
