My photo of the bench shown above was taken in March 2021 so you can see how the area has deteriorated since then.   The second and third photos were taken before 1993 and show how the grass looked like and how the Sea Defence of the 1950's once looked like.

I drove past the Craig Y Don Paddling Pool this week and noticed a lot of inactivity going on.        Does anyone know if the Paddling pool will be open for the Summer, the Summer of 2024 I mean ?

Update on reopening of ‘much-loved’ Craig-y-Don paddling pool             ref pioneer

REFURBISHMENT work on the paddling pool in Craig-y-Don is in the “final stages”, with hopes that the site could reopen this summer.

A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: “Contractors are carrying out the final stages of the work at Craig y Don paddling pool - this work needs to be done during an extended period of dry weather. 

“The weather has improved over the last day or so and we hope that these clearer, more settled conditions will mean the final sections of the Craig y Don paddling pool can be completed.

“The team and the contractors are aware of the need to complete as swiftly as possible, so that residents and visitors can enjoy this much loved facility.”

David Attenborough is asking everyone not to cut their grass until towards the end of the month, to help insects carry on (and insects are vital to us all).

There are some places where it is necessary to "tidy up" the roadsides - my car will read speed signs but misses the national speed limit sign as you leave the Marl Farm roundbaout going towards Llandudno on the A470 - all along the stretch past Bodysgallen Hall the dashboard is flashing me for going over 30 (limit is 60 along there)!  Just needs a couple of branches removed that are obscuring the sign.

A Llandudno café and a Bangor shop have shared their tales of woe as bold seagulls plague the region - and North Wales Live readers have been telling us of their own encounters with the little devils in our comments section too.

Reader Whatever says that it's an issue with the humans: "It's not the birds' fault they are just doing what comes naturally, it's mostly the tourists to blame enticing them with food. We were on the pier last weekend and it was absolutely packed outside the pier bar... so some tourists that have a penchant for taking photos of absolutely anything decided to create a photo opportunity by covering a table with food... result was absolute mayhem."

A HIGHLY-RATED restaurant in Llandudno has gone on the market, as the owners prepare to open a new dessert shop in Deganwy.

Indulge Restaurant, at 39/41 Madoc Street, has been put up for sale “as a going concern” with estate agent St David’s Commercial for £75,000.

Indulge was set up by husband and wife Sonny and Monika Walker six years ago, moving from the Conwy Valley to Llandudno after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The business has overcome “challenges” in recent years, rewarded by being crowned outstanding restaurant of the year at the Food Awards Wales 2022.

But with work underway ahead of the opening of their dessert shop, Number 8, at the former site of The Waterfront in Deganwy this summer, the couple look set to move on too.

The estate agent said of the listing: “Indulge is a very well-known quality restaurant situated in the heart of Llandudno on a prominent corner site.

CORONATION Street actor William Roache was pictured in Llandudno last week.                     ref pioneer

Known from playing Ken Barlow in the ITV soap, 92-year-old Roache stopped for a picture (above) at the Great Orme.

Shared on Facebook by Great Orme Cottage, a post read: “Bill Roache (Ken Barlow from Coronation Street) and today’s departing guests.

Great Orme Cottage is a holiday home based on Cromlech Road in Llandudno.

Roache is the longest-serving cast member in Coronation Street, having appeared in the show continuously since it was first broadcast on December 9, 1960.

He is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-serving TV actor in a continuous role.

At the age of seven, Roache began attending Rydal boarding school in Colwyn Bay (now Rydal Penrhos School).

Roache was commissioned into the Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1953, and a year later, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

He left in 1956, by which time he held the rank of captain.

Llandudno blighted by 'chronic' issue that's affecting lives of residents and visitors
A survey found the 'shocking' extent to which businesses, families and pensioners are being hampered

Mobile phone operators have been urged to sort out Llandudno’s inconsistent signal coverage. It follows an eye-opening survey that found families and businesses are often left without a reception in the Conwy resort.

The problem is most acute at the height of the summer tourism season when visitor numbers surge and local mobile networks become overloaded. Residents fear for their children, tourists struggle to access directions and business owners complain they can’t complete transactions.

Hugo, If the outcry over the time it took to get it finished, is nothing compared to FB social media yesterday, saying according to a FOI request the cost of the CYD lido pool paint job..........................wait for it......................................£256,000 pounds ..

INVESITGATION WORK is set to be carried out on the Llandudno Colonnades ahead of the repair and refurbishment of the Grade II listed structure.

Last year, the local authority secured £300,000 of Welsh Government funding to carry out repairs and a refurbishment to areas of Llandudno, including Llandudno Colonnades.

Now, the next stage of the project will see up to two weeks of work to help plan the site’s refurbishment.

The council said this may cause “some disruption” with regards to access.
