Good turnout for the Boxing Day dip. The announcer gave the sea temp at minus 11 degrees. Jason Gardiner came and spoke before the raffle draw, nice to see so many people supporting the charities.

At minus 11, the sea would be frozen solid! They said something similar last year, I would expect the sea temp to be about plus 9 (still very cold!)
You are spot on, it would seem:

The Inshore Lifeboat was called out on Christmas night to a man threatening to throw himself off the Pier.

Presumably, the pier gates would have been locked at both entrances?

I would hope so, but not particularly difficult to climb over them.

I have just come home from Llandudno Swimming Centre along Mostyn Broadway and the road is very busy with traffic.

Merddin Emrys’ earlier Xmas Day photos would certainly look a lot different today.

And most important ELECTIONS for a new Council who will probably be no better or worse than the present encumbants!   L0L

Yorkie, I wonder if this exercise may help improve the present situation:

Thinking of Becoming a County Borough Councillor?

Thursday, 3 May 2012 is an important day for democracy in Conwy County Borough.

It's the day we go to the polls to elect Councillors to represent us on the Council for the next four years.

The County Borough Council elections will take place alongside elections for Town and Community Councils.

Some people may be thinking about standing for election and the Council has launched a campaign to provide as much information as possible about becoming a Councillor, so that individuals can make an informed choice on whether or not to stand.

Conwy County Borough Council has published a guide on becoming a Councillor, which is available on the website - click on the link below.

Copies are also available by phoning (01492) 576067/8/9 or by e-mailing member.services@conwy.gov.uk

Copies of the Welsh Local Government Association guide 'Be a Councillor' are also available.

In January, information sessions to explain what is involved in becoming a Councillor will be held at Conwy Business Centre, Llandudno Junction:

Thursday, 12 January 2012 at 2pm
Tuesday, 17 January 2012 at 10am
Tuesday, 31 January 2012 at 6pm

The sessions will also include information about voting and making sure that you are on the electoral register if you are eligible to vote.

The nomination period for candidates for the County Borough elections will start at the end of March 2012.

The idea of it being anything like a democracy will remain a farce at local level as long as the voters persist in backing political parties rather than people.

I believe all Town and County Councillors should be independents.

I also believe that no person should be allowed to be both a Town and a County Councillor.

Very true Dave R, when you have County Clls on the Town council all they do is defend the County and they are told what bto do when they get elected. All Llandudno County councillors should be made to attend one town council meeting a month to discuss local issues instead of hidieing in Bodlondeb.

Don't they have to declare a conflict of interest?
