It was only for a few hours in the evening, Hugo.

Apart from those spectacular views, this is the business end at the summit.

BTW, that is one of those massive dumper trucks in yellow just right of centre in the first photo.

Had a lovely week away at Bank Ground Farm, Coniston, a very relaxing and peaceful place for a holiday.

Some people just love to go away and idyll all week...

Enjoyed my breakfast this morning after a bit of an exciting trip over yesterday. I was thinking hard about Ian's preference for train travel to Switzerland as the plane I was on had two aborted landings and a temporary diversion to Zurich. First one, a plane ahead of us stuck on the runway. Second one, runway closed due to winds from wrong direction.

I would guess that the top one is with the camera?

Hi ME, Hope all is well with you.
I would have guessed the same way as you too but in fact the first one is with the phone. Amazing!

Hi Hollins,   I was wondering what you were up to and hope that you're having a good time over there.    The quality of photos from mobile phones is improving all the time and I just wish that the photos from my camera were as good as those from the phones.
It has been reported that because the photos from the phones are so good now, the sale of cameras is actually dropping

Yes - it has been for some time. I still think the lens quality of a really good camera beats the 'phone camera, though.

It's also to do with the size/quality of the sensor within the camera. This becomes very apparent when you enlarge a photo for printing or professional use.

Mr Hollins has been sailing along the Normandy coastline and he sent me this photo from Fecamp which he described as the Llandudno of Normandy.

Nice photo Hollins and I can see the resemblance, although the stones look a lot smaller than our rocks.     :)
