You were lucky with that room having such a fantastic view.    The weather looked good too so that's a bonus

Yes, thanks Hugo. It was an amazing few days and we said the same as we were driving back that it was no nice not to have too much travel involved even though it felt a bit like we had been abroad.
It is on the coast path so we walked a couple of miles in each direction. From the front across the water it overlooks the southern end of  Holy Island and it was fascinating to watch the tide roaring there at back in the direction of Four Mile Bridge or out to sea.

It's far too hot for me to go out today so I'm just sitting on the north facing balcony.     There are not many people on Rhos Beach today so that's a sensible thing as the Sun is scorching right now and it won't take long  for people to suffer from Sun damage

I thought you might be amused at this rather splendid room with a view.
It was taken recently at the Marriott Victoria and Albert hotel in Manchester.
It is actually a really nice hotel by the river Irwell which has been renovated well some years ago from an old warehouse.
As you can see though lots of building work around it at the moment.

MOH and I have recently returned from a trip to Scandinavia with two grandsons, aged 11 and 14. Having spent the first week in Malmo with other family members, the four of us then travelled north to Gothenburg where we stayed in this very spacious boathouse. Although it was located in an industrial area on the opposite side of the river to the city centre, it was really quiet at night. During the day, we spotted plenty of seabirds, ducks and a pair of swans with their cygnets. Far better than a glass and concrete hotel in the busy city centre!

It sounds like a really nice family holiday that you've had SAJ and thanks for posting the photos.     That houseboat looks really interesting and a lovely place to stay.
I've often thought about the people in the UK who actually live on houseboats, it must be a nice way of living without the fast pace of urban life
