A “FANTASTIC opportunity” has opened up for a new tenant to take on a unit on Llandudno Pier.

Based along the main straight of the pier, close to the pier head, it is available for rent, but will not be open to those wanting to sell food or drink.

Anyone interested in taking the unit on has been asked to contact the pier’s general manager, Paul Williams – he can be emailed at Paulwilliams@llandudnopier.com.

Mr Williams said: “We are looking at the unit close to the pier head.

THE Happy Valley entrance to Llandudno Pier should be re-opened “early in the new year” following the completion of ongoing restoration works.

This will involve the replacement of three 16-metre girders, two 10-metre girders, side fencing, and the entire wooden decking from the entrance, all the way up to the ice cream kiosk.

The entire section will be scaffolded from the top all the way underneath, supported by a further two 18-metre girders.

WORK is continuing on the redevelopment of the Happy Valley entrance to Llandudno Pier, which is set to re-open in early 2025 after being closed for eight years.

Paul Williams, general manager of the pier, said it is anticipated work will be finished by the end of December, and that a special re-opening event will follow soon after.

The pier entrance closed due to structural issues, and the current works involve the replacement of three 16-metre girders, two 10-metre girders, side fencing, and the entire wooden decking from the entrance, all the way up to the ice cream kiosk..............picture...

From wildlife spotters to anglers, day-trippers and cold dippers, Wales' piers are a hive of activity.

In mid Wales, Aberystwyth Royal Pier in Ceredigion attracts both amusement arcade enthusiasts and roosting starlings who draw crowds when they flock to create magnificent murmurations.

In the north, visitors to Bangor Garth Pier are drawn to its art gallery, craft shops and tearoom.

On a sunny day in October, angler Jay Lewis was enjoying the peaceful views over the Severn Estuary on Penarth Pier in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales.

Almost 200 miles (321 km) north of Penarth is Wales’ longest pier - Llandudno in the county of Conwy.

Originally 242 ft (72m) long on its opening day in 1858, it was extended in 1877 and now stands at 2,295ft (700m).................

Social media news..........A 'Go Fund Me' page has been organised by the pier, to help with repair costs, as the pier is not insurable.?

Pier boss hails 'unbelievable' worldwide support but says Victorian kiosks' roofs damaged
Llandudno Pier and buildings wrecked by Storm Darragh as gusts up to 93mph struck North Wales

Pier owner Adam Williams told North Wales Live early today: "It's the morning after. We've had a walk down the pier early doors this morning.

"We managed to get down there though it is still awfully windy down there - reaching still 60mph winds. The underneath - on the face of things - looks like we've survived quite well - a few broken braces etc.

"The roofs are the major part of things - the old lead roofs - of the Victorian, listed (kiosks). That's the most difficult thing we're going to approach now................https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/pier-boss-hails-unbelievable-worldwide-30538950?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

That's interesting re the Pier not being insurable. I thought the reason the Bonfire Night fireworks were not launched off the pier was because the insurance company wouldn't allow it.

Llandudno Pier repairs fundraiser passes £10,000..........

It has so far raised nearly more than £10,000 after more than 500 donations had been made, with some donations in the hundreds of pounds.

The Gofundme reads: "There has been extensive damage caused, this is going to take a long time to repair at great expense.

"Llandudno Pier in our time has never received any grants or government funds towards repairs or maintenance."

LLANDUDNO Pier has won the National Piers Society’s Pier of the Year award for 2025.

The annual award is voted for by the members of the society, which is the official campaign and lobby organisation representing the interests of Britain’s seaside piers.

Paul Williams, general manager for Llandudno Pier, said he was “overjoyed” at the news, with the pier receiving the award for the first time in 20 years.

He said: “In the past 18 months, a huge investment has been made by our parent company, Tir Prince Leisure Group, in the replacement and repair of several steel piles, bracing and decking.......    https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/25111684.llandudno-pier-named-pier-year-2025/?ref=rss&IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589
