Ah.  That's not standard in SMF so its probably an extension one of us added - I blame Dave :-))  I'll take a peek at the list of extensions to see what's working and what's not.

Had a quick glance and nothing springs out. Won't give up, though. It could be one extension interfering with another.

I've just checked Ian and the spell checking system isn't working, since You've enabled it backstage. It certainly not working for me in Firefox on a Windows 10.

In the mean time I'm using https://www.jspell.com/public-spell-checker.html which give good results as long as you change the dictonary to English (GB)

The Spell Checker is enabled in the Forum Settings but there is a note attached saying that 'it may not work with all servers'. Possible a software upgrade somewhere has broken the feature?

Most modern browsers have a built in spell checker that does the same job; here's how to enable it in Firefox for example:

Hello, any extroverts amongst our members? I am looking for someone to join me on the three days extravaganza parade. All you have to do is get dressed up in a Victorian golfers outfit, provided by me of course. Then ride (o.k. Then, push) a small penny farthing with a small advertising trailer attached along the route. Me on one side of the road. You on the other.
It's quite a laugh, good fun. Alright it wasn't much fun on the first day when it absolutely threw it down with rain. But it won't happen this year I promise you.
I must confess that last year I had two lads on either side of me supposedly giving out leaflets. But this was a disaster. They couldn't keep up with me trying to secure my position in the parade and ended up about quarter of a mile behind. No good.
Any takers? You don't really need to be an extrovert. I am basically of a shy nature and I do t.  Mike

I've been using Picassa 3 for downloading my photos and then I put them into folders which automatically resize the images to 640  X 480.
I've done this procedure for years but at the moment the image sizes vary, sometimes they are 640 X 320  or 640  X 360      Is there any reason for this?
Just as a matter of interest what is the maximum size of photo that can be downloaded onto the forum?

If you use the Aeva gallery, there's not really a limit. In the topic posts I seem to remember it's about 1MB. In size terms that's pretty large. but every image differs .

It says 1.5mb but they don't always go through at less than that.
I am having to resize mine before posting as the forum reducing thing doesn't always work.

The width limit is 800 px, because any more than that would distort the browser. If you use the gallery, however, that has its own resizing options built in, so you don't need to worry.

Thanks for that info Ian,  I was quite happy with the size of 640 X 480  but now with them being 480 X 360 the photos look a bit odd to me.
I've tried to sort it out this afternoon but had no luck and the annoying bit is that I set it up years ago and it was working ok until recently.
I'll keep trying and see what happens as the Picasa system was so easy for me.      :rage:

At 18.00 tonight the forum had eight posts from one member. During the period "today." The total number of posts was 13. The 8 from one member were all on diverse subjects.
I am merely pointing this fact out and I've no doubt it will be noticed by others. Whilst I have no quarrel with the member concerned who by the time they have read me this far will no doubt know full well who it is. But this would appear to be an unhealthy position for the forum as a whole. Yes, I know you could say why don't some of the hundreds of others put fingers to keyboards.  But the alternative of having one person virtually taking over the forum is in my opinion unwelcome.
