Some may have good reason NOT to be mentioned, despite them being highly recommended?
What reason would that be?

Certain revenue grabbing government departments could cast their greedy eyes over the list and decide to investigate a few of them!    WWW

Dear Admin Guys,

On certain other Forums I use, there is a 'Filter' facility which allows you to ignore (and not even see) the posts by those members that you place on Filter.  I find it very useful to save time, and not be compelled to read troll type posts, abuse etc... or just things that irritate me.

Does such a facility exist within this Forum software?   Can it be switched on?

It's quite possible that some members might even want to filter me!

That facility exists as a plug-in for the forum. We have it, but it's not currently installed. The problem about 'ignore user' facilities is that they can distort boards and topics, because threads of meaning are lost once it's enabled. However, have a think as to whether you really want it to be installed and I'll check with Dave as to his thoughts.

Seems easier to just not read posts that are of no interest, that's what I do elsewhere.

Don't think filters are needed.  The poster is clearly shown either on the thread, list of recent posts at bottom of home page, and on list of posts since you last logged on.  You just do not have to read any that may offend you.

Also missing posts on any thread wil just cause confusion especially if a post being answered is one that has been filtered out.

No need for filters! Point of a forum is that you hear EVERYONE. If you just want to chat to friends go on facebook  :rage:

my thanks to bellringer for recommending Nick Jones (NRJ Heating) had him repair the boiler and fit a couple of radiators. He did a Brill job on both and at a good price. I would recommend him for any plumbing jobs.

I did think about it, which is why I raised it as a query.   However, it appears that opinion is equally divided on the subject.
In other words, I want to use the facility, and everyone else doesn't!

So, unless a sudden groundswell of opinion surfaces to request it, then I wouldn't put you to any trouble.   $good$

People who are regular contributors to the Forum and give it support do not see any advertisements cropping up on their pages.  Those who post only spasmodically see the adverts.  I believe after posting a certain number of times , e.g. 250, you become adfree.
