Thank you Ian. I tried it on a different pc and no problem at all. So I won't bother digging any deeper, I will just remember which one to use for the forum.

Hey Mike,  I don't think you have a 'nasty post' in you, my friend.

But you are right, I do have hidden influence on this Forum... so deeply is it hidden that I, myself have no knowledge of it!

Now, recently you had that Genio virus on your PC, remember?
Perhaps as part of cleaning that off, you wiped your cookies off too.... (I did that when 1-Rob1 aided me in eradicating a virus earlier this year)

Is it not possible to have another section such as . . . . Avoid like the plague!     :rage:

If you (or anyone else) is prepared to put their real name to any comments and accept any consequences, then I'm sure we could do such a section.

Providing what is said is true and not defamatory, there should be no problem.  A pseudonym could be used providing the real name is available should the information be legally challenged.  However, assuming we do not have any awful tradesmen or cowboys in the Three Towns, such a Topic could be introduced if and when it was felt neccessary should any extreme incidents arise.

Are we required to re-iterate the recommendations we have already given?

Seems like a waste of time.   I have already given recommendations of a great Electrician. a great Builder and a great Mechanic... all originally given to me by THE GREATEST PLUMBER IN THE WORLD!  .........Others have done likewise.

So why are we doing it again?   Just lift the posts out of the other thread??

There's even a GREAT Decorator on this very Forum..... but he's a bit busy!

Interestingly, that's just what I'm doing, F.  Many recommendations have been placed in several topics across the forum, however, so it would help if folk were to point me to their suggestions, to save me trawling through a few thousand posts in here. It would also be very useful to get recent recommendations, as companies and their personnel change over time. Ideally, if members would post reasons why they're suggesting a name then I can link to that post, so people looking to choose someone from several names will see their different strengths.

Do you think these traders should be mentioned without their permission?   Some may have good reason NOT to be mentioned, despite them being highly recommended?

I had just read the list of recommended trademen when lo and behold my washing machine packed up. I rang Bellringers recommendation and the chappie said that he would be with me in 1/2 hour. He was-- he did the job at a very reasonable charge and I am now washing again.

Thanks Bellringer.
