Nothing wrong with your memory Mull as the Oriental Stores was run by Egyptian Jews.     There was Jack Gubay who ran the store and Eddie and Robin who looked after the amusement arcade and cafe directly opposite the Oriental Stores
I liked the family as they did a lot for the town in different ways.      I've still got my binoculars that I bought from Jack Gubay over 50 years ago

Helig, I attended an event this morning at Llandudno Museum and picked up a leaflet entitled - A Jewish History of Llandudno.

Please feel free to pm me your address and I will gladly forward this on.

Remember Oriental Stores had glass display units on the pavement outside the shop filled with camaras and binoculars.

Bet they would not last long out there these days, the world has changed and not for the better.

Thank you, Brian but I spoke to Dawn in Llandudno Museum and she has sent me the leaflet as an attachment to an E-Mail. I know of many of the names mentioned and found it fascinating.

I don't know Bangor very well at all. It probably wouldn't mean much to me unlike to leaflet on Llandudno. Thank you anyway Brian.

The beautiful North Wales property with stunning views of Eryri and Ynys Mon - there's just one catch
The Llandudno property is on Rightmove for ?2.3 million

The original property of Abbey Lodge came up on the forum a few years ago under Genealogy and research as a forum member's relative once lived there.   The original property was demolished and a new building erected on the site and when it was completed not so long ago it went on the market at about 1.2 million pounds
A nice tidy profit for someone if they get the new asking price!

A boatman's cottage in a stunning beachside Anglesey location.      I've walked past this property a few times and it is set in a beautiful location but ?625K   I don't think it's worth that amount.
One thing for certain is that it must be beyond the limit of what local people can afford, certainly the likes of young locals.   No wonder there is a problem with  second homes on Ynys Mon

The 'second home paradise' that's dreadfully wrong' for village
The debate over spiralling property prices in popular coastal towns and villages is clearly not restricted to North Wales,  although North Wales does have the added concern over the Welsh language

Luxury beachside Anglesey home on sale with hefty price tag
The six bedroom house surrounded by spectacular views is on sale for ?1,950,000

In the main photo you can just make out the other property on the Rhoscolyn headland that is also up for sale.   Again local young people won't be buying this one either
