My memories are as I have always loved music were the discos in school a mix of northern soul, old rock and roll and punk, after leaving  my haunt was the royal oak listening to the jukebox which was situated by the toilet entrance great for doing the odd purchase of tobacco  additive, mainly rock and soft metal, Meat loaf dead ringer for love and Bowie. Sitting there at happy hour on sticky tables and vinyl seats tearing into your legs. We had 1 punk rocker in the town and I am sure you know who he was with his mohawk, hair nearly ran him over outside kwik save once. My music was always varied however mostly deep purple, floyd, zep, black sabbath etc, then came new romantic which killed all for a while and some I have to say was not bad, Depeche mode, OMD and such. It was a sad day when I returned once to the town and saw that the oak was no more. I am a musician [probably thanks to the oak] and live overseas now however I will return from time to time I was born in oxford street and lived in Llandudno 30 years. What about you did you hang around Tiffs with a headband on? or go to The speakeasy with funky Ian turner on the decks.
I used to rock down at colwyn bay pier and then into the town to see some MODs stopping at the little fairground under the bridge.
welsh and proud even though far away.
