That's awful. They used to have a nice display of bedding plants in there every year.  :(

If CCBC won't do it, then why can't the local residents get together and ask Llandudno Town Council for a few pounds and then plant it out and look after it themselves?

They could probably spare a bit from the Llandudno in Bloom project.  Each year they waste money on one thing or another, such as paying to water the hanging baskets in Mostyn Street which actually (normally) belong to the shops.    WWW

Just over a week ago I spoke to a CCBC gardener working in Rhos on Sea and I asked him about the Penrhyn Bay borders and it seems Llandudno has a different budget to Rhos and Colwyn Bay (plainly visible!) , he also said 'it was a shame as they'd had plenty of bedding plants left over  :rage:  Perhaps next year we should spread some seeds in March?

The ones in Rhos are no better though! Take a look at Rhos Point, by the shelter (or what used to be a shelter until the roof was removed a few weeks ago). The flower beds are full of weeds and haven't been touched this year.  :(

The 'Panning Meeting' - love it!

It's recommended for Refusal by the Planning Committee, anyway:

CONCLUSION
39. Subject to outstanding consultation responses, the development of the site is considered to
be acceptable in principle and complies with local development plan polices and national
planning policy with regard to the location of new residential development. However, the
design/appearance and layout of the proposed dwelling would form an incongruous feature
within the landscape and would result in a significant degree of harm to the visual amenity
of the locality. The proposal does not therefore comply with Policies 1L and 4G of the
Llandudno/Conwy District Plan and Policies A3, D4, D29 and D32 of the Gwynedd
Structure Plan.
RECOMMENDATION
A) Minded to refuse planning permission

I see in today's NWWN that the Kids Playground at Penrhynside is now unsafe, is a danger from paedophiles, and needs to be pulled down or moved.

I well remember the hoo-har and arguements when the playground was first mooted.   Some  people were against the development of this particular site but the local people and the LOCAL Councillors, including some who are still in the Council, were adamant that the site was made into a playground for the kids.    It seems these VERY SAME Councillors (apart from one) are now all in favour and almost demanding its removal.   It will be little use to the Penrhynside children if it is moved to Penrhryn Bay which is already served by an underutilized playground behind the Post Office.

It cost a pretty penny to get the equipment installed at Penrhrynside, the local people should decide its future not the Council.

If the place is full of dog faeces get the bloody Dog Warden down there or rig up a temporary CCTV and catch the offenders.  Surely that is why we all pay our rates?

When will these Councillors get their house in order?

Isn't there another playground in Penrhynside anyway? There's one at the back of the houses on the main street, isnt there?

Danger from paedophiles........... :o  If the council stopped housing all the paedophiles in this area it might help.  I mean if they kept tags on these people like they're supposed to children in this area would be a lot better protected.  No it's a better idea to remove the play ground......for gods sake.

It doesn't matter what distance you put between paedophiles and children, the determined ones will still find a way of feeding their disgusting practices.  It is fine knowing the paedophiles we do have on the register, but within society there are thousands more who are devious, deceitful and determined, who are yet to be discovered.  Some of these are probably working within our schools, kids clubs, sport, homes or anywhere that children gather.  These are the ones who need to be found, and the sooner the better.

The diggers are back in Penrhyn Bay, putting the stones back in place, I wonder if they will return to Rhos on Sea after last year!  ;D

Sitting in my lounge in Penrhyn Bay at about 2.30 this afternoon I felt a distinct earth tremor that lasted for approximately 4 or 5 seconds.   Anyone else notice it?    ZXZ

Sorry Yorkie, I wasent around your area at that time and I didnt feel it in Rhyl.
Just for a laugh I will mention my only experience of earth tremors (thankfully).  Summer of either 1983 or 1984. I was driving a bit of a boneshaker of a coach on the coast road through Flint, around 08.30 in the morning, and I was suddenly aware of "something" going on outside, people coming out of shops and shouting to each other, looking upwards at the sky etc.  No idea what was happening.
It wasent until the next day when I heard there had been a major tremor by N Wales standards at that time. It certainly covered from Flint towards Colwyn Bay.   Never felt a thing as I bounced around in my chara.    Mike
