The Deckchairs were out especially today on Llandudno Pier for the 'Party on the Pier' in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Research.

The first one in second pic still showing ABC, the Aberconwy Borough Council!   It's lasted a long time since the Unitary Authority was formed in 1996!   Maybe just another Council asset that doesn't get enough use!

Just going back to andyCYD's great photos of the lighting of the beacon on the summit of the Orme, I was talking to my elderly neighbour this morning who is in his nineties and Llandudno born and bred.  He was telling me about the beacon that they lit on the summit of the Orme for King George V Silver Jubilee in 1935!! apparently it was a massive bonfire made out of basically anything that was flammable and they pushed it all up the Orme by handcart.  He remembers another beacon being on Conwy Mountain and then a third above Penmaenmawr somewhere.

I noticed a pretty low tide this morning, so took the opportunity to go right down as far as I could on the beach to get some photos of the Pier from various angles:

Black and White and sepia certainly add an extra dimension to the images, do you convert it from colour to B&W using photoshop or can you take the picture in that format on the D700?

I took this photo of RNLB 'Andy Pearce' as it reminded me of a particular memory from my childhood. When I was a nipper, my Mum took me to see the dedication launch of the Lilly Wainwright - an impressive experience, the memory of which has stayed with me throughout my life. I was pleasantly surprised to find a detailed account of this event on the Llandudno Lifeboat website - there is even a photo of the crowds present on the day, and I am in that photograph for sure! http://www.llandudnolifeboat.org.uk/LillyWainwright.html - amazing the internet isn't it?. The Lilly Wainwright was paid for in part by a charitable legacy donation as a tribute to her late husband by a millionairess who lived in Craigside - does anyone have any more detail on this?.

Anyway, here is the photo I took of the present lifeboat:

You can take the shot in b&w if needed, but I always think its better to have the colour information and lose it in Lightroom than not have it when you might need it one day!
