I was working in Cwm Penmachno recently and I am ashamed to say even though I have lived in the area all my life I had never been to the village before (granted there isn't much to see really!).  However the old quarry workings looked pretty interesting so I promised myself a return visit in order to explore.  I returned last weekend and the low mist in the valley made for some nice photos so here are a few.

$cool$ I love looking around old slate quarrys, which reminds me that I'm long overdue to revisit the Dorothea slate quarry with it's beam engine!

Thanks ME and Snowcap.  I love these places for their social history.  What an incredibly hard place to live and work, so bleak and barren especially in the Welsh Winter months.  Look at the craftsmanship in the buildings and the stonework, beautiful.

Could I ask for some advice please?
I have been half heartedly looking for a new camera for a while.
My present one is 5MP and 2x zoom.
I saw this one today.
http://www.waeplus.co.uk/product/257308/NIKON-S3300---Green
I wondered if anyone could recommend it or if something better could be found?
It is important to me that it is small enough to go in my handbag.
I would like to improve close ups and be able to zoom in to things better but I want it to be automatic and foolproof as I am not technically minded.
This one has 16MP and 6x zoom so I know it can't be any worse than mine!
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

I've been very happy with the Nikon coolpix S6200 that I bought earlier this year  about £109 at Jessops, you can see it a few pages back in this thread ;D

I'm sure it will do the job perfectly well. Cameras that small are never going to be able to produce photos of the same quality as their 'big brothers' but it should be fine for everyday use.

Thanks. Do you think the increased spec of the new one would make a noticeable difference in picture quality from the old one?

Not on the Forum, as the images have to be resized right down anyway. The extra zoom length may be useful, though.
