Thanks. The bee wasn't intended to be in the photo. I was just trying to photograph the fox before she when and didn't notice the bee until I looked back at the photos, lol.

I have learned something about photography this evening.
The friend I went with on the West Highland railway is a professional photographer.
We exchanged photos at the end of the day and mine looked so disappointing compared to his despite me being stood next to him and taking the photos at the same time.
Tonight he has sent me two of my photos back having enhanced them with Pro Editing software.
Here are the two photos I put on the forum on Thursday alongside the ones he has edited.
How amazing!
I can’t help think there is a bit of trickery going on in the photographic world!!!!!!

I can see that both edited pictures are sharper, better definition and colour tones (to my untrained eye anyway  :) )
the editing software these days is very good, but you can over do it which is where the talent comes in, having a great camera helps too! (which I haven't got as I'm far too tight to spend the money on it  :laugh: )  I'm sure DaveR can say much more on the matter!  :D

Looks like your friend has been using the 'Recovery' tool in Lightroom to help restore some contrast to the blown out sky, and maybe the Sharpen tool also. Lightroom is an excellent program, I see it as a means of tweaking photos to ensure that the image matches what the photographer saw when he was standing there. Even the best camera can have difficulty in capturing a scene perfectly if the light is working against you!

I asked my friend, and Dave, you are quite right. he used Lightroom V3.
The difference it has made for me is that you can now see the smoke and the steam much more clearly and more like it actually was.
