that,s what my dad told me Dave, how wrong was he. Long live rock and roll
No, he was right! It's just embarrassing to see middle aged bald men or women that look like librarians playing rock music, however good they are. Rock music is as much about the energy/attitude of youth as the actual music. There's so much fantastic new talent out there.

If only The Who had stuck to their principles when they sang "Why don't you all just f-f-f-f-fade away..."  &shake&

As long as they are still good then I can't see that age matters at all, it's the music that matters, I can't see any more supergroups on the way like we've had in the past sadly. On the otherhand Paul Macartney and Rod Stewart (and others!) should definitely pack it in!
Interestingly I've become a big fan of Brit Floyd who play Pink Floyd's music perfectly, they are a lot younger but playing great music! They have played in Llandudno twice now, well worth seeing!  $good$

That's right, the music itself is great and performances from when they were in their prime are fantastic. But middle aged people playing this sort of music just isn't right...  &shake&

Shouldn't you have added 'in my opinion' after that remark?
You see its just not fair to say that.
Given that millions of people still wish to pay to see the supergroups, then they will (and should) continue to perform.
I will be off to see Motorhead in Manchester again soon, they are downright ancient, but seeing as they aren't likely to get any younger and I love the music, what am I supposed to do?
It's a supply and demand thing when all is said and done.

At risk of stating of the obvious....everyone's post on here is just their opinion. Silly chuff.

The best example of longevity I can think of is the Rolling Stones. I last saw them live in Sheffield in 2006. They were brilliant and especially Mick Jagger now aged 69! He is so fit!

Maybe he doesn't count in DaveR's comparison because I suppose he is not "middle aged" any more!

Mind you, I would agree with DaveR when talking about Elton John, ugh! Should have retired gracefully years ago.

Yes, as I said if they are still very good then age should not matter, on the other hand some should have never started at any age  ;D

You only have to look back at the Live 8 concert to confirm this. Performers of all ages played during the event and were all blown away by four old fogies that came on at the end. Mind you, it was the one (and only) time that Pink Floyd reformed after much pressure from a certain Mr. Geldof!

Well Hollins, I recall my Dad saying that when he was 74, he suddenly realised he was middle-aged.

I had to disappoint him by telling him that I had not yet met a 148 year old man, and he was in fact an OLD man!
