Saw on Facebook the other day---Photo of BP diesel pumps at Stirling Services M9. at £1.77

That is Scotland's oil from Grangemouth Refinery only 10 miles down the road.
Who's pocket is that going into ?

Sorry this article contradicting yesterdays news..........

Diesel prices could nearly double from record levels if production in Russia is shut down and oil prices rise, MPs have been told.

Experts said that the price of diesel could possibly hit as high as £3 per litre, up from current record highs of £1.73.

Although she cautioned against doomsaying, Dr Amrita Sen, warned that it was a distinct possibility, and households cutting back on use would not help prices to reduce much.

“It’s industrial usage that can keep diesel high, £2.50 – even closer to £3, just depending on how high oil prices get, that’s definitely in the realms of possibility,” Dr Sen, director of research at Energy Aspects, told MPs on the Treasury Select Committee.

I passed Black Cat this morning and later this afternoon - petrol was 164.9 this morning and 166.9 this afternoon.
So, why are we being told fuel prices are now coming down?
Did Black Cat have a delivery today of more expensive fuel?
I've noticed in the past that prices usually change there on a Thursday afternoon.

I will need to top up next Monday ready for a trip to Cumbria and back the following day - wonder what that'll cost.
Approx 280 miles at 35mpg - that's 8 gallons so about £60 or a little bit more.  It'll be Shell Super as well - works out about 10% more on cost but 10% better on mpg so balances out!

Local Garage up here on the island was telling me that as soon as he gets a fuel delivery within 24 hours the supplier has been into his account and taken their money.
When I filled up last week he warned me it would go to over £1.70 this week.

Feel like we are all doomed the way cost of living is going, forecast is interest rates will go up before lunchtime. Feel there is going to be a lot of suffering.

I agree.  And when the electricity prices have affected everyone it might become a choice between eat or heat.

Interest rates have increased for the third time in four months as the Bank of England tries to calm the rise in the cost of living.

The rise to 0.75% from 0.5% comes as prices are climbing faster than pay, squeezing household finances.

It means interest rates are now at their highest level since March 2020, when the Covid pandemic began.

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons cutting fuel prices from 6pm - here's what drivers will pay
Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a cut in fuel duty of 5p a litre in the Spring Statement today

Asda/Tesco
In a statement, the company said it will pass the 5p a litre drop in fuel duty "straight on to its customers". "The supermarket will reduce the price at the pumps by 6p per litre which includes a 1p reduction in VAT," it said.

Restores the cost to roughly what it was last week. I liked the Guardian's take:

"In the most surprising move, the chancellor then announced a 1p cut in income tax to 19p, which will come into force in April 2024, the month before the day earmarked by the government for the general election."

The pavement parking rules you need to know to avoid getting in trouble
The Highway Code states that it is only illegal in London, so why can police fine people elsewhere?
