Nice views of Oceana Hibernicus from the Ordovician range, too.

Re: Tourism in North Wales ...........People demand say on Welsh holiday lets
« Reply #497 on: November 04, 2024, 10:02:41 am »
Residents in Wales are demanding they be consulted before neighbours convert their properties into holiday lets. They argue life can change dramatically if groups of holidaymakers start coming and going in their streets.

A petition has been launched ahead of the planned introduction of a holiday let register and licensing scheme in Wales. As well as setting mandatory safety and quality standards, this scheme will give officials a better idea of holiday home numbers in the country.

A TOURISM chief in North Wales has called on the Welsh Government to make changes following the publication of The Wales Tourism Alliance's (WTA) annual Industry Survey.

The survey, which was undertaken throughout October last year was published on Friday (January 3) and the findings indicate that many tourism businesses are being hit by recent changes in Welsh Government legislation, with the self-catering sector particularly badly affected.

The report confirms claims from WTA members that the 182 day rule is having a negative impact beyond the tourism and hospitality sector. .........https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/24838268.tourism-chief-calls-welsh-government-policy-changes/?ref=rss&IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

Tourism tax in Wales should not apply to one group of visitors, experts claim
Academics and industry chiefs have argued for 'tailored rates' for holidaymakers

Hospitality chiefs want Wales’ planned tourism tax to give families a break. An organisation representing hotels, pubs, restaurants and indoor leisure said the Welsh Government should not be charging children to visit the country.

UKHospitality Cymru has demanded Wales be brought into line with other European nations that implement a levy. Some countries, like France, give exemptions for most children under 18, others have a variety of age exemptions from 10 years upwards. A few, like Germany and Greece, charge a levy irrespective of age...https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/tourism-tax-wales-should-not-30751354?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

Holiday demand for North Wales is up - with four locations seeing strongest hike in interest
Holidaycottages.co.uk says booking numbers are 14% ahead of the same time in 2024

They cited four areas where they had seen a particular uptick in enquiries and bookings, these include the ever popular Betws-y-Coed at the gateway to Eryri and the Colwyn Bay area, which has been boosted by seafront investments in the beaches at Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn and Rhos-on-Sea............. https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/holiday-demand-north-wales-up-30906056?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589&utm_campaign=Daily-0222025&utm_medium=email&utm_source=IYA-DailyDigest&utm_term=news-link&source=email&sourceUserIid=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

From the Daily Mirror.........

UK seaside town is like 'going back in time 50 years' with award-winning beaches
Llandudno is a Victorian seaside town in North Wales and is the perfect base to explore beaches, nature, castles and more all while being evoked by a sense of nostalgia

Once a humble copper mining and fishing community nearly two centuries back, it now stands as a proud Victorian seaside resort. Despite the region’s old school feel which evokes feelings “like going back 50 years” as described by The Times, it still has an upmarket and buzzy feel to it. It's also home to two award-winning beaches and certainly deserves a spot on your next UK adventure bucket list.

From Liverpoolworld.........

New drive urges Liverpudlians to let the train and buses take the strain when they holiday in North Wales
The aim of the campaign by North Wales Tourism is to promote green tourism by reducing the number of cars on the roads and overcrowding at well-known hotspots during peak periods.

It’s aimed at travellers from big cities like London, Manchester, Liverpool and Cardiff using trains run by Transport for Wales (TfW) and Avanti West Coast.

Re: £19m project to future-proof North Wales tourism sector

At face value, seems a good idea, but my cynical side is saying, is this a proper use of 19 million pounds of tax payers money......

A pioneering £19 million project has been approved to future-proof the tourism sector in North Wales.

The Tourism Talent Network project will see the introduction of state-of-the-art training and knowledge transfer facilities across five locations in the region.

The project, a collaboration between Ambition North Wales and Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, was green-lighted by the North Wales Economic Ambition Board last year.

It aims to provide world-class training, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro business engagement, alongside a comprehensive school outreach programme.

The little Eryri village that offers much more than 'UK's most poignant grave'
The picturesque community is known for its stunning natural beauty - and for a heartbreaking tale

As all local North Walians know Beddgelert is a stunning place to visit but if you want to appreciate its real beauty try and avoid weekends and Bank Holidays
