If you are using the Llandudno Junction car wash on Conwy Road, please be advised that you must NOT stop on the pavement in your vehicle or block the road.

This is dangerous and could cause an accident.

West Conwy Neighbourhood policing team will be in the area in the coming days/weeks ensuring the traffic is flowing. If you are found to be causing an obstruction you may face a fine.

We do not want to ticket car wash customers although, we have received a number of reports within the past week to complain about this issue.

Keep the roads safe, be sensible when an area is busy & keep the traffic flowing at all times to prevent an accident from happening.

The site of a former Llandudno Junction school could be transformed into a purpose-built medical centre, a councillor believes.

Ysgol Nant y Coed went up in flames in November 2019 after an arson attack, and the school was subsequently demolished.

But now Cllr Mike Priestley has claimed talks on a medical centre are ongoing between Conwy County Council, who own the site, and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Ysgol Nant y Coed was one of two Llandudno Junction schools that closed when the new purpose-built Ysgol Awel y Mynydd opened in September 2017.

Cllr Mike Priestley says Llandudno Junction has suffered due to a strain on health care services, caused by the number of new homes built in the area in recent years.

Cllr Priestley said: “Conversations are going on. I’ve spoken to Betsi Cadwaladr, and they’ve said they are looking at a number of sites, one of which is the Ysgol Nant y Coed site, and I just want to put all my support behind the facility there to support the community.

“While we have the opportunity, we can provide something that will be a real benefit to our community. We’ve given so much green fields and so much space for new houses, I think it is about time we had a brownfield site for the community.

Cineworld announces cinemas at risk of closure including two in North Wales

Cineworld has announced a list of more than 100 cinemas that are at risk of closure, including two in North Wales. The cinema chain announced financial struggles last year when they were forced to file for bankruptcy in the US.

Among the sites which could face closure are Llandudno Junction and Broughton - two of North Wales' most popular cinema complexes. The company said it had been under pressure due to the pandemic, and fell into administration last autumn.

Months on from announcing it was "assessing options to shore up its finances," Cineworld has given an update which puts 129 of its sites across the UK and Ireland at risk. Yesterday, the cinema giant said they had been approached by a ?number? of potential suitors interested in a takeover,

A PUBLIC gathering has been arranged at a skatepark in Llandudno Junction amid efforts to replace it with a new and improved site.

Cllr Dave Jones, who represents the Glyn y Marl ward on Conwy County Borough Council, has helped form the ?Victoria Skatepark Project? community group, of which he is secretary.

The gathering will take place at the village?s skatepark, which is near the Lidl supermarket, on May 4 at 6pm.

A COLWYN Bay coffee shop chain will be opening a store at Llandudno Junction train station.

Porter?s Coffee Shop, which already has sites at Eirias Park and Station Road in Colwyn Bay, are set to open ?more than just a caf?? at Llandudno Junction train station.

As well as being a stop on the North Wales line, the station is an important changeover stop for passengers travelling to Llandudno, so sees a lot of footfall.

A HOUSING association in North Wales and its construction partners welcomed Conwy County Borough Council delegates to see how a former farmland has been transformed into a new housing development.

Adra, along with Beech Developments, has been developing 29 properties on the Cae?r Llynen estate off Narrow Lane, Llandudno Junction.

They include eight two-bedroom flats; 15 three-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom houses.

They will be a mixture of social rent, intermediate rent and rent to own, while some will also be advertised on the open market.

A FREE shuttle bus service will be in place as the Llandudno Junction flyover closes for three weeks for refurbishment work.

The Llandudno Junction flyover will be closed between Monday, 19 June and Wednesday, 5 July for essential refurbishment work, as the project nears completion after work started last year.

During this time, Conwy County Borough Council will provide a free shuttle bus between Conwy and Llandudno Junction.

This will help passengers meet up with scheduled bus services which will not be serving Conwy or which will be offering a reduced service to the town.

The free shuttle bus will run from 7:30am to 6:30pm, with a bus every 30 minutes.

A WHOLESALE retailer building in Llandudno Junction has gone on the market, after being owned by the same company for 75 years.

The 2 Glan-y-Mor Road site, which has been an electrical wholesale site for several years, is for sale with estate agent St David?s Commercial for a freehold price of ?210,000.

The property has been owned by DR Property 1928 Ltd since 1948, and this is the first time it has gone on the market.

A ROW has erupted over new parking enforcement signs that have appeared at Cineworld Llandudno warning customers they only have a three hour maximum stay.

The new parking restriction for the Llandudno Junction car park will be in force from next week.

The land is managed by UK Parking Control Ltd.

The signs state: "Three hours maximum stay.

"This car park is on private land.

"Non-compliance with the terms and conditions may result in a parking charge of up to ?100 (reduced to ?60 if paid within 14 days of being issued in accordance with the Private Parking Code of Practice). All terms and conditions apply to Blue Badge Holders. Hours of enforcement: 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Cineworld posted on Facebook to explain the situation. They said: "As some of you are already aware we have new parking restriction for the car park that will be taking place from next week. We do realise that the restrictions in place do state that it is a maximum of a 3 hour stay. However, please don?t worry!

"We will have a tablet inside of the cinema which you will need to enter your car details into upon your arrival. This will allow you to extend your stay free of charge! We know that many of you love to come for a meal before your film or like to watch as many as you can in one day and the 3 hours just would not be enough."
