When we lived in Oxfordshire a few years ago we had a wood burner, we used to get old pallets, cut up they produced a lot of heat on the wood burner!

Anywhere recommended local for some firewood logs?

There is usually a notice on the left side of the Llanwrst Road just after the Welsh Food Centre half a mile before Tal y Cafn.
Hope this helps.

Couldnt find that but did find the one next door to the conwy water gardens which is a guy called peter and you tell him what size you want and go into the forest with him to cut it.  Planning a trip to there as it sounds loads of fun plus the water gardens is a delightful little place, chickens follow you everywhere and the ducks, kids were over the moon.  Bought a long horn box fish called rodney for my marine tank, hes fabulous :)

Pleased you got sorted.  Went past the Food Centre yesterday and sign was not there, should have told you to go up towards Eglwsbach if sign not out.  Your find sounds much more exciting!   :D

If you need any more there was a sign on the B 5106 road between Conwy and Trefriw just after Tyn-y- Groes on the right going towards Trefriw.

Minime - don't forget you can't (or shouldn't) burn newly cut logs.  They need to be "seasoned" first so that all the sap dries out.  Otherwise your chimney can get tarred up and can catch fire.

Wasn't sure where to post this link but thought a few people (especially DaveR!) might be interested in the pictures of these abandoned Welsh  buildings.

What a waste of some glorious buildings. Some of the stonework is fabulous.

Very interesting, thank you. I've visited a couple of the North Wales places; would love to go round the Red Dress Manor. The problem is when places like that get widely publicised, you get thieves and vandals turning up.
