I am so pleased all is well now. I felt for you last night. When we moved here we ended up spending the night in a hotel due to major plumbing problems. Never again!

Hope you will both be happy in your new home (saw you again yesterday on Real Deal !!)
The night we moved here we had nothing but what we stood up in-- our furniture etc was coming the next morning and we spent the night squashed up with 2 dogs in a single room ! Luckily the weather was warm'

ME, I'm glad you're settling in and sorting things out.

When I moved here I travelled by train, with just a rucksack of camping gear (apart from the tent) and two cats in travelling boxes.  I arrived fairly late in the evening and had more supplies for the cats than for myself.  I'd just poured most of my bottle of water into the cats' bowl when I discovered that the water supply had been turned off outside the house and I had no means of turning it on till I could ask a neighbour for help in the morning!  My removals men arrived early (they'd been camped out in the lorry overnight) and they were brilliant - particularly as the box with the tea making things was one of the last out (as everything had been in storage I couldn't organise its whereabouts)!

Wales’ coastline named ‘the greatest region on Earth in 2012’ by traveller's bible Lonely Planet

A travellers' bible has described the Welsh coastline as “the greatest region on Earth to visit in 2012” ahead of some of the world’s most iconic destinations.

Lonely Planet – one of the world’s leading travel publishers – has lavished praise on Wales because next year it becomes the first country to boast a footpath running along its entire coastline.

The All Wales Coast Path – a Welsh Government scheme costing £10m – will run from Chepstow right the way to Queensferry in Flintshire, North Wales. It will stretch some 870 miles (1,400km) when it is opened in May.

It was highlighted in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2012, which features 10 countries, regions and cities handpicked by the publisher’s experts as the most impressive places to visit next year.

Lonely Planet author Sarah Baxter wrote of Wales’ selection in top spot: “What a wonderful thing: to walk the entire length of a country’s coastline, to trace its every nook, cranny, cliff-face, indent and estuary. How better to truly appreciate the shape – and soul – of a nation? Well, in 2012 Wales will become the only country in the world where you can do just that.

“Due for completion in May, the All Wales Coast Path (AWCP) will squiggle continuously from Chepstow in the south to near Queensferry in the north – via dramatic serrations, sandy bays and domineering castles – making 1,377km of shore accessible.”

Simon Calder, the travel editor at the Independent, said recognition of Wales’s status as an outstanding destination was long overdue.

He said: “Anybody who has explored the coast of Wales will know it’s as good as anything on the planet.

“And the completion of the path, particularly, added to the Offa’s Dyke path, means this is one country that you can walk all the way around and I think that’s a tremendous offering to put to the world.”

Mr Calder said despite the popularity of websites like Trip Advisor, where ordinary holidaymakers review destinations, guide books were still valued and trusted by international travellers.

He said it is now up to the Welsh hospitality industry to ensure its offer was strong enough to capitalise on the additional visitors who will come to the country.

Julian Burrell, a director of the Wales Tourism Alliance (WTA), echoed Mr Calder’s comments, saying the book’s choice of Wales as best region would make a big impression on overseas visitors.

Mr Burrell said: “This is something we’ve been telling people for a long time and it’s very pleasing indeed to see Lonely Planet agreeing with us.

“Some previous editions have been becoming more and more positive about Wales and I think it’s a credit to everyone involved in the tourism industry that this very positive attitude is now out there with the public.”

Another of the book’s authors, Tom Hall, picked out places like Barafundle Bay and St David’s, both in Pembrokeshire, as among the reasons why Wales was chosen by Lonely Planet’s editorial team. Barafundle Bay, in the Stackpole National Nature Reserve, was the setting for Sherlock Holmes star Benedict Cumberbatch’s new film Third Star, while St David’s is best known as the Pembrokeshire village that boasts full city status due to its cathedral.

Mr Hall also suggested the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s decision to start their married life on Anglesey, North Wales, had raised the profile of the Welsh coast.

He said: “As well as the novel ability to walk its entire coastline, the region comes out top because of its wildlife, great surf, castles and fantastic spots such as Barrafundle Bay and St David’s.

“Now that Wills and Kate have set up home in the area it has also received the Royal stamp of approval.”

Almost £10m has been spent on the coastal path in recent years - by the Assembly, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and the national parks.

The path, due to open on May 5, will link a pre-existing network to new stretches running to over 130 miles that have been built since 2007.

A Welsh Government spokesman said they hope the path persuades many of the visitors who arrive in London next year for the Olympics to stop off in Wales.

“To be ranked above such fantastic destinations is a credit to the effort of all those involved with the Wales Coast Path,” he said.

Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2012 is priced at £9.99 and will be available today.

It's been one of those days already got woken up this morning by the estate agent informing us that a house we were hoping to view is now off the market  :'(  My eldest is off to Amsterdam with his friends tomorrow and so was drying his clothes ready for his trip when the tumble dryer decided to be spiteful and start blowing cold air only  :rage:  So I had him panicking round the house manic as you like " aahgh what will I do, I need them for tonight they'll never be dry........blah blah" A quick phone call to John Peg sorted that out I'm now going to use his dryer so problem solved.  John then phoned back and said he needed slight alterations to his new leg so the afternoon will be spent round his kitchen table with fiber glass resin and sand paper.  As I'm rounding up all Gavs washing and putting it in a bin bag the door knocks and it's two bloody Jehovah witnesses  :o  I'll give them Armagedden !!  Well I would of the but I knew the guy and he's really nice if I'm honest so had to stand there being polite
However Gail has just phoned me so were going for a swift one in the Mail and if that doesn't put a different slant on the day I'm going to hide in Gav's suitcase and find the nearest Coffee shop in Amsterdam and roll myself the biggest Cheech and Chong rolly you've ever seen.   Plan two sounds preferable right now

Thanks Medz!
I just got round to watching that clip... and I am very proud of myself!
The contestant got 14 out of 15 right... I got all 15, and in double quick time, so would have had more questions than he did.
However, I am a Motorhead obsessive, and the questions were a little on the easy side.

Sadly, if I had continued to the general knowledge section, I'm sure I would have been lucky to get NIL, so no great achievement there.   I had fun though.

News just in:

Oxford University researchers have discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which ar...e surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called pillocks. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into
contact.

A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganisation in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganisation will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as a critical morass. When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many pillocks but twice as many morons

If painting the house on some unnaturally high scaffolding in the last couple of days didn't do it to me then I'm feeling really old now.

We took it in turns. Amazing what you can paint with your eyes shut and gripping onto the scaffolding with one hand.

Love it.

 :)

Being extremely sad, not to mention old, I realised I'd got their Greatest Hits album on my Ipod. Never realised it was actualy Micky Dolenz, not Davey Jones, that sang lead on most of their more famous tracks. Is anyone out there old enough or brave enough to remember a very young Mickey Dolenz on TV in Circus Boy. Circus Boy
