A while ago, I had pre-booked to travel later on 12.44 with Arriva Trains Wales from Llandudno to Chester and then catching the 14.35 Virgin Train from Chester down to London Euston on business.

The overall cost I had paid for the train travel from Llandudno to London was £8.60.

Fair play to Virgin Trains, they have now reserved me a seat on the 12.42 Virgin Train from Llandudno Junction direct to London Euston at no extra cost.

However, the taxi fare quoted earlier this morning by a well-known local taxi firm over to Llandudno Junction will cost me £7 and with a tip is likely to be very similar to what I paid for the actual train fare all the way down to London.

Simply, buy early and be flexible with when you want to travel.

Initially, I would have had to wait at Chester for an hour but now I am pleased to report I do not.

BTW, it also helps to now have a Senior Cardcard.  ;)

After topping the polls in 2009 and 2010, Llys Helyg Drive in Llandudno with an average price of £723,100 has been pushed into second place by Twyncyn in Dinas Powys, where the average house price is £838,700

This scam's been running for about 4 years now and not just in this country.

I'll beat that taxi fare in my cab. As long as you book early and are flexible about when you want to travel!

I don't believe you could buy anything on Llys Helig Drive for £723k! I reckon the data is flawed because sales of properties there are quite rare.

I was verbally quoted  (by a taxi on the rank at the station)  £14 one-way from LJ station to Black Gate. Again more or less what I'd paid for a return ticket to Cardiff. I assume he didn't want to come all this way!
