It doesn't say why he abandoned the vehicle?

In 1920, George Wilkins Browne of Llandudno both drove a car up and down Snowdon successfully. He drove up and down the railway track in an Angus Sanderson 14hp car. This event was filmed for cinema audiences. The ascent took 1 hour 22 mins, the descent 1 hour 5 mins.

I noticed the newest member on here is called Sesame Street (hello by the way) and it reminded me of a news story earlier this month about a petition in America to get show producers to feature the gay marriage of Burt and Ernie.  Show producers say that although Burt and Ernie live together there has never been a suggestion that the couple are gay.  Oh pleeeease it's a kids programme why do they have to get married? I don't remember as a kid either of them mincing round the house   I suppose the next petition will be for The Count to get a noise abatement order or Miss Piggy to appear in court for sexual harassment!

Indeed, it's just a lot of nonsense.

Yorkie, I like your quote "What goes up must come down." Especially from an ex Crane man

Not just the hook!  Erecting and dismantling a tower crane was a bit of a feat especially when the base was 200 feet up on the top of a Power Station Charge Hall!   Exciting times.     ZXZ

I am surprised as I know all the attendants and they are always very helpful even to explaining where the road leads and how to get to the mine and the summit.

 I would have thought you would have known that info.

I do!  And have done for a long time - but the everyday visitor is not always so well informed.

I agree with Yorkie as I feel strongly that, in this case, the toll keeper could very well be the only person the visiting driver speaks to in the town. The more he chats and gives out information, provided other cars are not waiting, the better.  This was one of my favourite soapbox arguments years ago when there were car park attendants. Invariably bad tempered grumpy old men who gave a terrible impression to the visitor who would remember the town for years---for all the wrong reasons.

Just thought I'd say that I've never been a car park attendant  ;D as I have often been compared to Victor Meldrew, mind I'm years younger!
