I can wholly agree with Yorkie about the 'Happy Chappie'.
Sadly Jules has now left.

Yes, I forgot that Jules has gone now, dogs and all.  Don't know the name of the new chap yet but he seems like a happy chappy also!

I remember Tony Limacher who was at the Toll for many a year but sadly had to retire due to poor health.  He had many a tale to tell.
One I liked was when the Toll was only 50p and a chap drove up, handed Tony a £50 note and said, "Sorry I haven't got a 50p piece."  Tony not to be taken aback replied, "That's alright, Sir, you'll have 99 of them in a minute!", and duly gave the man his change in 50p pieces!   _))*

Another one I like is when a starnger went through the Toll and asked Tony, "Do you need any special qualifications to be buried in the Orme Cemetery?"   Tony replied, "Yes!"   The chap asked, "What are they then?"   Tony's retort was, "Well, first you have to be dead!"   L0L

I think we may have to blame Nemesis for this. Didn't some of her guests ask her for directions on how to drive up to Snowdon?

That's the one.  He has been there off and on for some time.  Next time I see him I'll ask his name.   ZXZ

A 4x4 driver was facing a steep problem yesterday – how to get his vehicle down from the summit of Snowdon.

The man, from Gloucester, is thought to have set off from Llanberis at 4am on Saturday, in bad weather. He was later spotted by a train crew near the summit shortly after 7am.

Last night North Wales Police confirmed they have been alerted to the incident and are investigating.

The maroon Vauxhall Frontera 4x4 was parked up alongside Snowdon Mountain Railway yesterday.

It was facing downhill near Bwlch Glas – at least four miles from the nearest road and about 400 yards below the summit.

It is unclear whether the vehicle used the train track or a path.

The owner of the vehicle, who has not been named, spent yesterday on the mountain trying to retrieve it.

Shouldn't have any problem - just have to remember the olde adage, "What goes up, must come down!"    _))*

As there isn't enough room to turn around up there I wonder if he reversed up?

"The 39-year-old  man from the Cheltenham area,  who drove a 4x4 vehicle onto Snowdon over the weekend, has been charged with driving a vehicle on common land / moorland/ land not part of a road. He has been bailed to appear at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on September 16 2011."

And just what will be gained from taking him to court?  He will probably finish up with a slapped wrist and told not to do it again.  What a waste of taxpayers' money!    $angry$

Hope he will be billed for the cost of removing the 4 x 4 from the mountain, as they are talking helicopters at present, that won't come cheaply  :(

I imagine Vauxhall are currently monitoring the situation to see if they can gain some positive PR over the matter.

The gentleman may eventually become quite rich over his stunt.
