Post Office offer amounts to just half of my claim, says Bates

Sir Alan Bates has accused the government of putting forward a "take it or leave it" offer of compensation amounting to less than half of his claim.

The former subpostmaster, who has campaigned for redress for victims of the Post Office scandal, said ministers were presiding over "quasi-kangaroo courts" and altering the "goal posts" on their judgements.

One answer is to renationalise the Post Office but pay the current owners the sale amount less all the compensation. And how many of the PO's top staff are now serving sentences for lying?

Post-Brexit £51m border control post to sit empty

The Welsh government began constructing the post with Kier Construction, the main contractor on the project, in March 2024 and it was anticipated to be completed by autumn 2025.

Four arrested after RAF Brize Norton break-in

Counter-terror police have arrested four people after military planes were sprayed with paint during a break-in at RAF Brize Norton that was claimed by a pro-Palestinian group.

Footage posted online last Friday by Palestine Action showed two people inside the Oxfordshire airbase in darkness, with one riding on a scooter up to an Airbus Voyager and spraying paint into its jet engine.
If they are big enough to do the crime then they should be big enough to do the time and they may reflect on their actions when they are inside HM Prison

First migrants detained under 'one in, one out' deal with France

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: "Yesterday, under the terms of this ground-breaking new treaty, the first group of people to cross the Channel were detained after their arrival at Western Jet Foil and will now be held in detention until they can be returned to France.
I wonder when this will be as I heard on BBC News today that the process will take about 3 months before it comes in to force?
