An event to coincide with the Great Orme Exploration Society (GOES) exhibition at Llandudno Museum

Saturday May 19th at 1:30pm at Great Orme visitor Centre: A walk and talk with Steve Lea around Parc Wall to hear all about the 'overground and underground' history of Llandudno's Victorian mining industry. How did the mines manage the problem of flooding? What is a brammock rod, where were they, are there any remains of them? Just a few questions to be addressed.

Visit GOES at Llandudno Museum and test the QR codes with your smart phone.

Plan of the Victorian Mining System of the Great Orme, Llandudno showing the Brammock Rod System also known as 'The Tom and Jerry' Engine; used to pump water from the ever flooded mines. After completion of the penmorfa adit (that's the horizontal one which starts on the west shore) the Tom and Jerry engine ceased to have any relevance, and over the years, the stucture gradually deteriorated.
