Confirmation today in the Post that Homebase in Llandudno is to close, with the loss of 40 jobs.  :(

That's incredibly sad - and bad for the town.

It is indeed very sad, and I have spent much in Homebase over the years.

I always found that their products were a tad better than B&Q, and they had nicely designed furniture, garden furniture, kitchenware and soft furnishings too.
Obviously I was in the minority.   :( :(

Not really bad for the town as the planned closures of a number of Homebase stores was made some time ago.  The shareholders are quite happy as the overall plans for the Home Retail Group are very attractive.  Many HB stores will remain and greater investment is being made in the Argos side of the Business.  A loss here is regretable but there will be a gain somewhere else. Maybe we will get another cafe!    ZXZ

I have spoken to staff in B & M stores in Bangor and Holyhead recently and both sources said that B & M would be opening in Champneys Llandudno as soon as the confirmation of the closure of Homebase had been finalised. The Bangor source was also the one that correctly confirmed that the opening of B & M in Homebase Holyhead was going ahead back in May well before it was announced.

I noticed in the Pioneer an advert regarding the former William Glover store in Mostyn Street saying 'coming soon, new levels of rest and relaxation' and to keep an eye out in the nest edition for more info. Does anyone know about this? That teasing reference could stand for either a new furniture shop or even a spa I guess. It's a mystery. Big shop though and not one I would like to rent if I didn't have a solid business idea. The rent and rates will be huge.

If you walk past the shop, you will see a few beds and matresses already in there on the floor and also up against the wall.

We noticed them at least a couple of weeks ago.

I walked past there this morning and there were some guys working inside and a load of posters on the windows about "the benefits of a good night's sleep", "how long the average person spends in bed", etc, etc, so I think it's a safe bet it's going to be (another) bed shop.
