Does anyone know when they removed the turrets/lookout rooms from those buildings? If you look at old images, they're there.

Dave should know.

Here's a photo showing the turrets. The landing stage looks very different too.
I'd say they disappeared sometime in the early 60s? I take it there must have been a spiral staircase in the centre of the ground floor to access the roof? Here's a closer photo of what is now the Bar:

I think one (this) is about Past Times and the History, and the other is about what is happening now.  Would be confusing to mix them!

The glass solarium which you can see at the back of the Pavilion was great.  Willy Wyse used to grow tomatoes in grow bags in there!

Must be one of the first drinking fountains in the town in the foreground. Looks like you had to pull on one of the chains to operate it.

The whole thing looks amazingly resplendent, does it not.  Just beautiful.
