AN artisan chocolatiers from Conwy have created a 10kg Easter egg inspired by Vivienne Westwood, for use in a charity fundraiser.

Baravelli?s, based at 13 Bangor Road in Conwy, have created a 10kg chocolate egg inspired by the late Vivienne Westwood.

As a tribute to the fashion icon they have created a dark chocolate punk egg sprayed with cocoa butter, with the spikes also made from chocolate.

Owners Emma and Mark Baravelli love to set themselves a chocolate challenge, but this unique Easter egg is to also raise vital funds for mental health charity Conwy Mind.

Trespassing on railways has been cut after a project to get kids interested in graffiti art at a North Wales station. Two murals at Conwy Station were completed by local graffiti artist Andy Birch helped by students from Ysgol Aberconwy in the town.

The pieces cover the inside of two shelters at the station and are inspired by local heritage and culture. They show a locomotive steaming through the station beside the medieval town walls.

Huge 660-tonne stone reef sunk off North Wales coast for project 'four years in the making'
It's hoped the artificial reef will encourage native oysters to spawn in the Conwy estuary and harbour

Wild oysters will be reintroduced to Conwy?s estuary and harbour. The project is being headed by Bangor University and The Zoological Society of London who are working with Conwy County Council.

A 660-tonne stone reef has been laid in the harbour which will be covered by crushed mollusc shells. Then around 1,200 native oysters will be introduced in the hope they will once again naturally spawn in Conwy?s harbour and estuary.

New cafe planned in redevelopment of 'potentially dangerous' old playground site
The Church of Wales wants to build a new cafe in Conwy

Plans to build a new cafe in the grounds of a church hall have been submitted. The Church of Wales is seeking permission from Conwy County Council to build the new cafe on the grounds of St Mary's Church Hall, on Rose Hill Street.

Applicant Julie Burnand has submitted the planning application on the church?s behalf, outlining the intention to construct a "modest single storey cafe" at the disused rear of the church hall. If the plans get the go-ahead, the cafe will create one full-time job and five part-time positions.

'Near misses' between cars and pedestrians at Conwy Castle archway spark safety fears
Conwy Council has urged pedestrians to use a nearby underpass instead

Pedestrians walking through Conwy Castle?s arch have been urged to use an alternative route amid fears over safety. The area between Gyffin?s Morfa Bach car park and the castle is often busy, especially during the summer holidays when tourists flock to the medieval town.

But motorists using the stretch on Llanrwst Road say they?ve witnessed several near misses, some even involving people with pushchairs or prams risking walking through the archway. The area has no pavement, but pedestrians are still using the route rather than taking the longer way round to the castle.
