A county councillor pleaded with a planning committee to "end this madness" as it contemplated another housing scheme in his ward, which he claimed couldn't sustain more development.

Councillor Bob Squire (Eirias ward) told the Conwy county council meeting the area around Dolwen Road had been the subject of "years of development despite massive opposition from the people of Old Colwyn".

Maxi Developments Ltd wanted to build 69 houses on land adjacent to Bryn Rodyn with an application for 56 homes and outline planning for 13.

It would have included 34 affordable dwellings and a commuted sum of £16,000 towards affordable housing. It was one of a succession of housing developments in Old Colwyn which Cllr Squire had stood against in recent years.

While nothing to connect it to the last post , rumours persist about the new build on the corner of Queens  Drive & Pwllcrochan Avenue with reports ranging from not fit for purpose to major sewerage problems , wonder if this will jeopardise the Queens Lodge site

Former private school boarding house in exclusive suburb could be turned into 'mental health' unit
A care provider, which offers services to young adults with 'significant' behavioural problems, bought the building known as Hathaway from Rydal Penrhos

The care and support services provider has now submitted a planning application to Conwy County Council to convert the building into 12 self-contained flats which will have 24-hour integral care facilities for supported living.

The firm, which owns Plas Lorna in Rhyl and Arnold House in Llanddulas takes referrals for individuals who have “complex support needs with impaired intellectual abilities and significant challenging behaviour”.

Its clients may include Individuals who may have learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, mental health disorders or are highly vulnerable.

According to its website some may have a “history of repeated psychiatric/learning disability hospital admissions including by detention under the Mental Health Act (2007)”.

ANOTHER GP surgery has revealed it is terminating its contract with the health board.

Dr Close, GP at Rhoslan practice in Colwyn Bay, has informed Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) that he will be terminating his contract with the Health Board for General Medical Services on November 30 2021.

Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, said he had "deep concerns" about yet another GP surgery handing in its notice to end its NHS contract.

"This has sadly become common practice across North Wales in recent years," he added.

Art, brings back good memouries  :D      hope the moron's keep off.

Graffiti artist brings Colwyn Bay's past back to life, but not everyone is happy
A T-Rex, a mechanised elephant and a vintage travel poster view of Colwyn Bay have appeared on an underpass in the seaside town

A neglected pedestrian underpass that leads from Colwyn Bay town centre to the beach has received a colourful makeover and sparked a lively discussion among'st residents.

Graffiti artist Andy Birch has been commissioned as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund project Imagine Colwyn Bay to brighten up the underpass that it a key link to the town and the promenade.

Andy has evoked lots of memories for people, even reducing one elderly gentleman to tears when he spotted a fairground ride he used to go on when he was a child. The fairground used to be located where Morrisons car park is now.

Andy has also spray painted a 1950s train travel type poster of Colwyn Bay, a T-Rex from the attraction Dinosaur World and a mechanised elephant that children used to ride on from the 1950s.

The elephant ran on wheels powered by a small two-stroke petrol engine via a belt drive. Its 'keeper' walked alongside while the children sat on benches which ran the length of the elephant’s back.

I needed some petrol for my lawn mower so I popped down to Colwyn Bay but all three of the garages I went to were empty.     I then went to the Tesco Petrol Station in the Junction and they were still selling fuel but even that was limited as there was no E10 petrol or diesel on the pump I was using.

If you are worried about the
E10 fuel this might help Hugo
Follow These Five Steps to Prevent Most Fuel-Related Problems
Step
1. Do not use gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol in your Honda lawn mower.

Reason
Gasoline containing higher levels of ethanol is corrosive and attracts water, which can cause starting or running problems or, in some cases, damage to your lawn mower’s fuel system.

2. Store your gasoline in a clean, plastic, sealed container approved for fuel storage. Close the vent (if equipped) when not in use and store the container away from direct sunlight. If it takes more than 3 months to consume the fuel in the container, we suggest adding a fuel stabilizer to the fuel when you fill the container.

A clean, plastic container approved for fuel storage will help prevent rust and metallic contaminants from entering the fuel system. Gasoline will deteriorate faster when exposed to air and sunlight.

Thanks for the advice Spotty Dog,  I had no choice yesterday and opted for the E5 petrol.          My Honda mower has been working overtime recently and that's why I ran out of fuel this week.
It's a good Honda engine and as well as cutting the grass I also use it for cutting all the hedge clippings and it does a good job for a 35 year old mower that's been neglected for years.
I can't even remember when it was last serviced but it certainly wasn't this century!

Development firm seeks permission to build more than 100 homes on Rydal Penrhos school site
Castle Green has applied for permission to build 105 homes on land at the Colwyn Bay school

The Grade-II listed building will be converted into 33 apartments. The modern outbuildings, mobile classrooms and Erskine Cottage will be demolished and that land, along with the sports pitches, will be developed with 72 new houses.

In a joint pre-application consultation statement the company and school say the development will help meet the "significant need" for housing in Conwy County Borough.

"The proposed development will enable the Rydal Penrhos on-going development plans and estate rationalisation to continue as it transforms from a boarding school to a day school," says the statement.

That firm also hope to build 124 homes in St Asaph of which 12 will be "affordable homes"         I must say that that is extremely generous of the company to build so many affordable homes.
If the local authority that deals with St Asaph is as competent as CCBC then the plans will go through without any trouble        &shake&
