If anyone is thinking of driving up King's Drive in the West End of Colwyn Bay, then my advice is don't do it unless you have to.      I drove down there today from Colwyn Heights and it was a nightmare
The Drive is getting tarmaced and only one lane is open plus that section of the Old Highway is  closed so the traffic is led in conoy when the lights turn to green.     Once the oncoming traffic has finished the the workmen and their vehicles come out to do some work.    Once that has finished then it is your turn to go.     That's over half an hour to drive a mile
The queues were very long and some motorists were getting impatient and tooting their car horns.        The only other routes up are on the Old Highway from Mochdre or the Rough stretch of the Pen Y Bryn Road.     Mrs H tried the Pen Y Bryn route but it nearly wrecked the cat so I'd avoid that way too

Mrs H has just driven up King's Drive and had no problem so perhaps the road works have stopped now, well for the time being anyway.

A ROAD near the Slaters garage in Colwyn Bay will be closed for almost one month to allow for the installation of new traffic lights.

The works, on the A547 (junction 20 westbound on-slip) will also involve the addition of pedestrian crossings at the junction.

They will take place between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and are due to start on October 28 and finish on November 22.

Traffic Wales said: “The existing traffic signals have reached the end of their design life and are no longer economical to repair.

New route with two bridges would link A55 junction with the A470
Conwy council using multi-million pound Levelling-Up funds for the project

Plans have been submitted to build bridges and a pathway to link the A470 with a junction of the A55, Conwy, and Llandudno Junction. Conwy council secured a multi-million pound Levelling-Up funding boost from the last UK Government to improve cycling and walking routes in the Conwy Valley.
This included a link between the A470 at Glan Conwy and junction 18 of the A55 by Tesco and Cineworld, and Conwy flyover. Now an application has been submitted to develop the link.

There is already a report on the failure of these schemes................ Looks like CCBC don't bother reading these reports, it has been said on here time and again, there are bigger priorities, let alone proven failures costing millions, NHS etc.

No major increase in cycling and walking in Wales...........BBC report https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c207zj57140o

Responding to a report that highlights the Welsh Labour Government spent £218m to get more people walking and cycling but it's not working, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, said: “This report highlights the failure of Labour's active travel strategy.19 Sept 2024

Aren't the people who decide such policies supposed to be amongst the intelligence of society - I really do wonder.

There is a child in both photos in the same position with a different colour coat on. Really important when choosing winter clothes.…

I went on to the A55 west bound slip road by Lookers Garage today and immediately realised that it was a big mistake.    There must have been an accident by the Conwy Tunnel or beyond as both lanes had stopped.      It then started to move very slowly and after about 20 minutes I was able to exit the A55 at the Black Cat roundabout
When I returned to the A55 half an hour later the carriageway was moving freely

Drivers told to expect 'letters in the post' after A55 tunnel fire
Some motorists turned around and drove against the traffic flow', with police taking action

I was also stuck in that queue and it wasn't a nice experience but you just have to be patient so I've no sympathy for these motorists whatsoever.      If they get fined or have penalty points awarded against them then it's just their own fault

Live A55 updates as crash shuts eastbound carriageway
The accident took place between Caerwys and Holywell

Visibility is less than 100 metres on Colwyn Heights so I hope that the visibility is better on the coastal section of the A55 or otherwise more crashes may follow

Eight vehicle A55 crash due to 'foggy conditions' caused hours of disruption
The incident saw delays of an hour for many drivers.     That area above the top of Rhuallt Hill is on high ground and is often subject to adverse weather conditions in the Winter season

Average speed cameras to be installed on major North Wales road
The road has seen 'a significant number of collisions in recent years'

Average speed cameras will be installed on a major road which has seen "a significant number of collisions". Flintshire Council has confirmed work to install cameras on the A548 coast road between Llanerch-y-Mor and Mostyn will begin this week.    I hope that they introduce speed cameras on the A55 too. especially on the 50 mph stretch in Colwyn Bay
