Major A55 resurfacing will see 12 days of closures with diversion in place
The work will start at the end of this month
A "major maintenance" scheme is set to start on the A55 later this month. Welsh Government will be carrying out resurfacing on the dual carriageway between Junction 11 at Llandygai and Junction 10 Caernarfon Road, Bangor.

Update on last few posts......

The Welsh Government has issued a statement after North Wales police bosses said they had no evidence that the 20mph speed limit had reduced casualties. The force's chief constable and crime commissioner made the statement last week at a North Wales Police and Crime Panel at Conwy County Council’s Bodlondeb HQ.

The Welsh Government has now said there has been a long-term decrease in both casualties and collisions. A Welsh Government spokeswoman said: “The latest data shows that collisions on local roads have reduced significantly.

The east/west split when it comes to 20mph in North Wales
The huge difference in responses could be explained by the number of exception roads in each county

Exact locations of mobile speed cameras in North and Mid Wales during October 2024
GoSafe has set out where its cameras will be operating this month
It's a shame that they do not use ANPR cameras instead of just speed cameras as that way the Police could catch all the illegal motorists and not just those motorists doing just over 20 mph
The roads would be a lot safer without the untaxed, uninsured, no MOT vehicles on the road

The 20mph 'ultra' speed camera that's pinged more than 2,300 drivers in just a month
North Wales Live obtained figures for all the speed cameras on 20mph routes,   I thought that Glan Y Mor Road in Penrhyn Bay was bad but this beats that by a long way

Increasing numbers of drivers, bikers and cyclists are becoming the eyes of traffic police in North Wales. Latest data shows the number of people submitting dashcam and helmet-cam video footage in the region almost doubled between 2021 and 2023.

Figures for the first half of 2024 suggests the amount of video footage is due to rise again significantly this year. Action taken by the DIY traffic officers is leading to scores of motorists being fined, taken to court or sent on driving courses.

That is really good to hear Steve and hopefully will make the roads a lot safer.    I was watching a TV programme on this type of thing and one Police force had thousands of dashcam footage sent to them.    Each video was followed up and most of the drivers were prosecuted which can only be a good thing as it should make the bad drivers aware that they can't get away with dangerous driving
I wish that the Police would go one step further and use "Vulcan static cameras".    We are told that using hand held mobile phones is as bad as drink driving so why doesn't the penalty fit the crime and ban anyone from driving for a year that has been caught using a hand held mobile phone while driving?
The Vulcan cameras would catch these law breakers

The rules around parking on single yellow lines and the 'crucial' thing drivers must remember
The time of day plays a big factor but there's one thing you should do before you park on a single yellow line which could help you avoid a hefty fine
