ROADWORKS will see a major tunnel on the A55 in Conwy close for the majority of April.

The Penmaenbach tunnel will shut in the westbound direction until April 23.

Meanwhile, there will also be a 3.2m width restriction between the A55?s Junctions 16 (Puffin roundabout) and 18 (Llandudno Junction) from April 8-25, between 7pm and 7am.

Tunnels in Conwy will also briefly close later this month.

On April 24 (7pm-7am), the Conwy Tunnel will close in the westbound direction, with a contraflow through the eastbound tunnel.

The following day (7pm-7am), the Conwy Tunnel will shut in the eastbound direction, with a contraflow through the westbound tunnel.

Over 650 drivers caught exceeding 20mph in February

THE NUMBER of drivers caught exceeding Wales' 20mph speed limits increased again during March, figures have revealed.

The majority of residential roads throughout Wales changed from being 30mph to 20mph last September.

This was, according to the Welsh Government, to help 'save lives'.

But, the move has been heavily criticised by members of the public, politicians and more since it was introduced.

An 'engagement process' was launched in January of this year between North Wales Police, GoSafe and other relevant authorities to ensure drivers were sticking to the new limit.

Biker chose wrong car to overtake on the A470 in expensive mistake
Motorcyclist regretted decision to pass this vehicle on Gwynedd road

How many times have we seen that happening?    I've no sympathy whatsoever with the rider and what's this with the "false plates"  I would have expected the bike to be seized for that illegal action

I think the article referred to 'illegal plates' rather than 'false plates' and looking at the picture it was likely to be illegal due to it being smaller than that allowed by 'construction and use' regulation.

WORK to install two new toucan crossings on the A470 is underway.

Work to make 'active travel' changes started in January on Marl Lane and A470.

New paths and kerbs on the A470 have been installed and on Marl Drive, work has started on a shared use path, new kerbs, and crossing points.

A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: "Work is continuing on this active travel route. Our contractor has installed the new path and kerbs on the A470 and is now working on two new toucan crossings.

Major U-turn on 20mph speed limits signalled for Wales
New transport minister Ken Skates has adopted a more 'conciliatory' approach to 20mph and his wider transport brief

Wales? new transport secretary has hinted at a major U-turn on the country?s 20mph regime. Ken Skates said the lower speed limit should be targeted at schools, nurseries, hospitals and other "appropriate" areas.

Speaking in the Senedd, he pledged changes to the existing default 20mph speed limit, which applies in built-up areas and covers 37% of the road network in Wales. The minister is to make a formal announcement next Tuesday (April 23) on measures that are planned over the ?coming weeks and months?.

RECAP: Welsh Government to make changes to 20mph zones

Ken Skates has said he will be looking to make a ?targeted change? to 20mph zones in Wales.
The Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport, Ken Skates, will outline his transport priorities, including plans for 20 mph, in the Senedd today (April 23).
He said the Government will ?correct? its guidance around the introduction of 20mph speed limits in built-up areas.

Live A55 updates as crash sees traffic held at tunnel
The collision took place near the westbound Penmaenbach tunnel and traffic is building
Mrs H was lucky today when returning home from Rhyl in the west bound lane.   Normally she would exit the A55 at the Rhos on Sea turn off but could see the queue of traffic ahead and took the Morrison turn off instead.     Accidents on the A55 seem to be quite frequent nowadays

Speed camera enforcement to start on 20mph stretch of road between two seaside towns
Enforcement is being stepped up on 20mph roads

That's the road I use the most when travelling between the two towns so I'll have to be even  more careful from now on

I walked along Brompton Avenue this afternoon and did not see another pedestrian or cyclist in the 10 minutes it took. It was crossing the road at Rhos Road that was the difficult bit.......a public spirited individual in a car going less than 20mph had a tail back of 28 cars behind them....sad that I counted them I know! A pelican crossing at that junction might be an idea? My trip Old Colwyn to Llandudno is always done on the A55/A470 since last September for my own enjoyment of driving with a clean licence of 44 years.
