Cera Conwy, Colwyn Bay
28 Wynnstay Road,
 Colwyn Bay01492 463043

Cera, the digital-first healthcare-at-home provider and one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies, is recruiting 50 care assistant positions in Colwyn Bay.

As part of the recruitment drive, the company is holding a recruitment event on April 28th from 10am-2pm for anyone considering applying for a role to drop in to chat to the team.

Cera is a technology-enabled home care provider, with a team of thousands of carers and nurses delivering more than 40,000 in-person visits to patients homes every day on behalf of over 100 Local Authorities and NHS CCGs. The company’s pioneering technology removes the burden of manual pen and paper processes by implementing innovative technology and machine learning capabilities, in turn giving carers more time to do what they do best; care.

If you are a student about to graduate, an experienced worker considering a career change or employed worker looking to supplement your current income, Cera’s technology can recruit, train, certify and deploy new professional carers in a matter of days.

Felix Wetzel, Director of Carer Acquisition at Cera, commented: “Over the past two years, the majority of us have experienced what it’s like to care for people outside of our families – from staying at home to protect the most vulnerable to checking in on an elderly neighbour or dropping off food for a friend in isolation. The feeling of caring and making a difference to the lives of others is incomparable. It doesn’t matter what stage of your career you’re at, if you’re reliable, empathetic and friendly, it’s time to consider joining the caring profession.”

A North Wales construction company is building careers as well as homes as part of a major expansion across the region.

The Brenig Group, based in Mochdre, near Colwyn Bay,  https://brenigconstruction.co.uk/who-we-are/careers/  is at work on a major passive housing development for leading housing association Cartrefi Conwy in Llanrwst where the company has five young staff on site.

They range from quantity surveyor Caroline Thomas, from Prestatyn, to local man Dan Doble, from Llanrwst, who swapped the retail trade for bricks and mortar and is now part of Brenig’s groundworks team.

Brenig Health and Safety and Training Manager Adam Jones said: “We do have a real commitment to training and upskilling our staff because they are the lifeblood of the industry.

“There are so many different opportunities in construction and we work closely with Cartrefi Conwy housing association and with their subsidiary Creating Enterprise to find young people who want to turn jobs into careers.

CASH investment is up for grabs via an enterprise hub offering free business development sessions to ambitious start-ups and entrepreneurs.

Experts from across the world of business are joining forces with Hwb Menter/Enterprise Hub @M-SParc to share their knowledge, advice and experience with participants from across Conwy county.

The Miwtini  programme https://businesswales.gov.wales/news-and-blogs/news/miwtini-programme-creative-and-digital-businesseswill be held in Colwyn Bay over two weeks from Monday June 13, featuring workshops on a range of topics including web design, PR, marketing, and customer service.

Those taking part will then be able to pitch their business ideas for investment – £3,000 for the winner and £2,000 for a runner up via the UK Community Renewal Fund.

This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund and takes place over six in-person sessions at the M-SParc #OnTour satellite hub on Abergele Road, Colwyn Bay.

2021 saw a 14% rise in the number of start-up businesses launched in the UK, with many people deciding to pursue a new career or launch a venture due to the pandemic.

Enterprise Hub Manager Sara Roberts said they want to help people begin their journey to commercial success.

“Miwtini is all about opportunities, providing entrepreneurs and anyone with the spark of an idea the platform to bring it to reality,” she added.

Conwy Job Expo a roaring success as crowds fill venue           ref pioneer

THE CONWY Job Expo took place on May 12 as more than 150 people attended in the hopes of learning more about employment opportunities.

Held from 2pm to 7pm at Eirias Events Centre, Colwyn Bay, the Expo saw 71 leading employers convene to present opportunities to would-be employees.

The free event was organised by Conwy Employment Hub - which oversees Communities for Work, PaCE and Communities for Work Plus – in partnership with Working Wales, which is delivered by Careers Wales, the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) and Conwy Business Support team.

Pip Cockeram, Marketing and Communications Officer at Conwy Employment Hub, said the event went “really well”, adding: “It seemed to be well-liked by the exhibitors and also from the jobseekers, feedback has been excellent.

An extensive range of businesses took part and set up stalls at the event, including Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (three stands), Conwy Council, Llandudno Pier, Zip World, Quest and the British Army.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Police and HMP Berwyn (Wrexham) representatives were also in attendance.

Ms Cockeram added: “It wasn’t just companies that you would easily recognise – it ticked all the boxes.”

“That was the key thing that everyone liked about the job fair – we had everyone from care agencies through to alpine travel and cleaning companies.

“It was right across all sectors and that was the aim – it wasn’t just a normal job fair, we wanted to pull in a variety of exhibitors and we certainly did.

The Welsh Government will support 1,200 young people to start their own businesses as part of plans to foster a new culture of entrepreneurship in Wales.

Economy Minister, Vaughan Gething announced today that the Government will deliver ?5 million over the next three years to deliver on the self-employment aspect of the ambitious Young Person?s Guarantee.

The Minister said supporting young entrepreneurs will form a vital part of making Wales a place where more young people feel confident in planning their future.

The Welsh Government is determined that there will be no lost generation in Wales as a result of the Covid pandemic. The Young Person?s Guarantee will provide everyone under 25 in Wales with the offer of work, education, training, or self-employment.

The investment is included in the ?20.9m a year commitment to extend the hugely successful Business Wales service beyond the end of EU funding in 2023.

Mr Gething said: ?Encouraging young adults to stay in Wales by building their careers and launching their own businesses here will be instrumental as we re-design our economy post-coronavirus.

?Our young people hold the key to Wales? future success. Their talents, skills and creativity are essential to ensuring our economic success. I am determined we do all we can as a government to help deliver the long-term economic benefits our young people deserve for them all to fulfil their potential."

Specialist support will be provided through three key ways.

A NORTH Wales community interest group is helping people of all ages in part-time and temporary work progress their careers through free one-to-one career coaching.

RCS, which provides wellbeing support for individuals and businesses across North and West Wales, launched its tailored service to help broaden job opportunities for individuals looking to move to full-time or permanent positions.

The programme can be accessed as part of RCS? In Work Support Service which operates across Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion.

The scheme, which consists of four one-to-one professional coaching sessions, uses an evidence-based appreciative approach, meaning participants can map out their goals based on success and opportunities rather than focusing on negatives.

Initially launched as a pilot project, the 12-week programme has now been ramped up to include an online hub of resources to support learning outside of the monthly meet ups.

Participants are guided by Marian Rosefield, who has more than two decades of experience in professional coaching, with sessions tailored to best suit individual learning styles and help better understand career aspirations.
