North Wales paddling pools that will that will be a lifesaver this summer - when they open
A hot summer like last year is on the cards - so a dip in the pool will be refreshing

They're bound to be the perfect summer activity that will help people keep cool and avoid breaking the bank this summer. A spokesperson from the local authority previously confirmed that, once the necessary work is completed, they will assess the sites and share the opening dates. Until that time comes, here is all the information you'll need to know - from getting to the pools and what is and isn't around them:

Friends of Mostyn Street FB news
Wednesday evening saw another great turnout for Friends of Mostyn Street?s mission to help return the centre of Llandudno back to its former glory. Welcome to our new members and the businesses who supported us!
Although we?re called the Friends of Mostyn Street, we?re keen to ensure the whole of the town centre feels included and this week one group began work to restore the metal poppies in the flowerbeds at the Cenotaph, and another group worked our way up to the Tram Station, weeding, scraping and sweeping as we went.
As always, we?re very keen to welcome new members, so join the Facebook group, turn up and get involved. All gloves, hi-vis vests, tools provided. Just bring your elbow grease each Wednesday at 5.30pm for an hour.

I haven't been to Llandudno in a good while so was shocked & saddened to see how shabby it has become. Not only that, while parked in the Town Hall car park waiting for me, Mr M saw 2 men go behind the public toilets & urinate in a corner. Their excuse was the toilets were closed, this was Tuesday morning at 11.30. Does anyone know if they have closed for good?

Sorry to hear about your experience Meleri and I hope that it doesn't put you off coming here again.    I'm afraid that they live amongst us unfortunately

We had a flaming June which was great but the flaming CCBC are still at it          We had the Smurfs last time the paddling pool was painted so I wonder what colour it'll be next

Work on paddling pools 'progressing well' but questions remain over whether they'll be open for summer
Conwy Council has given an update on the pools amid online speculation of further delays

Feverish speculation over Conwy?s paddling pools has been quashed by the local authority. Delivery of a specialist coating is expected ?soon?, fuelling hopes the popular pools may reopen later this summer.

Social media fears had been rising of another hiccup in a saga that began when Conwy Council announced in April it would not be filling its four paddling pools this season. The authority has been let down by a firm that was due to carry out safety work.

ITV filming in Llandudno for 'shocking' drama series on Post Office scandal
Several locations in the town have been scouted for the four-part series which features Captain America and Harry Potter actor Toby Jones

Film cameras will return to Conwy next week to highlight the biggest miscarriage of justice in British legal history. A street in Llandudno will be emptied for two days to enable filming of a major new ITV drama series about a Post Office scandal that saw hundreds of sub-postmasters wrongfully prosecuted for theft and false accounting.

The four-part series shines a spotlight on Alan Bates, the Craig-y-Don sub-postmaster who took on the Post Office and, against the odds, won a multi-million-pound legal case. He will be played by Captain America and Harry Potter actor Toby Jones. Joining him are the likes of Julie Hesmondhalgh, Alex Jennings and Ian Hart.

AN ARTIST from Llandudno says he feels blessed to feature on a BBC arts programme depicting his work with an NHS trauma surgeon.

Nick Elphick, a figurative sculptor still based in Llandudno, was tasked with creating a portrait of inspirational London trauma surgeon Martin Griffiths, and will appear on BBC One?s Extraordinary Portraits presented by Bill Bailey.

Nick is the first artist to feature in the new series, and the episode sees the artist and Martin share their incredible stories and follows the relationship that develops between them as they work on the project.

Bulldog with 'Hannibal Lecter death mask' who prowls Llandudno streets but is just a 'sweetheart'
Lenny wears the intimidating muzzle because of his penchant for eating sticks - but his owner is worried people will get the wrong idea

t home, Lenny the English Bulldog is gentle, kind and really quite handsome. Out on walks along Llandudno promenade, he comes across very differently, thanks to what Lenny?s owner calls his ?Hannibal Lecter death mask?.

Worried what people might think, Caroline Burnell took to social media to explain they have nothing to fret about. Despite his menacing appearance, she said there is no need to cross the street if they see him loping towards them.

Llandudno Grade II listed building and tea room is put up for sale

A PROPERTY in Llandudno currently occupied by a tea room has been placed on the market.

?Haulfre Gardens?, on Cwlach Road, is available via estate agents St Davids Commercial, with a guide price set of ?750,000 on a freehold basis.

The Grade II listed building was built in 1865 for Sir Thomas Lipton, and then from 1871 to 1876 was owned by Henry Pochin, then Johnny Walker, the whiskey distiller.

I was driving past the paddling pool in Craig Y Don on Thursday and looked at the repair work going on there.      By the looks of it,  I don't think that the paddling pool will be finished before the holiday season has ended.    What a shame for the young locals and visitors

I wonder if CCBC could immediately open the paddling pool for this year and carry out the work during the winter months?
