Jason, fantastic to see your help, perhaps if the £1000 prosecutions were well publicised it might help solve the dog problem

Fester,

Your lucid simplicy and transparancy of vision is a lesson to us all to enable a practical and sensible solution to a problem of only minor irriation.

As you infer, we are taking this issue all too seriously.

The fact that it blights our community, affects local the local economy, spoils our enjoyment of our open areas and potentially blinds children is of course, of negligable consequence.

Richard, I fail to see how, in my posting I led you to believe I wasn't being serious.
Trust me, I was being deadly serious.
Take it from one who has trod in the damn stuff recently.... and had numerous customers walk it into my shop.
The figures I quoted are precisely whats required to deal with the issue.
There ARE too many dogs.

Not always possible Yorkie, how many of us have gone out of the house and then had to go to the loo in town?     Same applies to dogs too

I'm not sure it's quite the same for dogs. There are three differences:  dogs tend to be fed the same food and same amounts of food on a daily basis, a practice which is recommended by Vets and hence which tends to make their systems predictably reliable. Secondly, dogs can indeed be trained to defecate on command.  We accomplished that with each of our dogs over many years.  Only sickness or deterioration in old age seems to change that. Thirdly, Canine and Human metabolism is fundamentally quite different; you can only draw a really meaningful comparison between us and pigs, oddly.  Or perhaps not  WWW

Whilst I am loath to disagree with a senior member of this forum,

We don't have 'senior' members Richard;  only folk who post a lot  :)  And debate is what we're about, so jump on in :-)

There are. And too many clueless owners.

I might be wrong here but I remember there only being a hand full of traffic wardens in the area, until the council realised the revenue that could be collected and now they're everywhere. Maybe they should employ more dog wardens with the sole purpose of catching these lazy dog owners. I hate to see dog mess it's disgusting and dangerous. I wouldn't hesitate in telling anyone to clear up after their dog. There's no point in reporting the owners with no evidence. Get these dog wardens to go covert, pretend they are walking their dogs along the paths etc where the majority of offenders are taking their dogs. Think of the revenue. I think a £1000 fine is too much. £250 is a much more attainable amount to actually pay therefore creating more revenue. A dog licence costing £50 is a good idea but I fail to see how this would deter rogue owners. Dog wardens on commission thats the answer me thinks.

Matelots in Llandudno has closed until further notice. The owner may employ another Manager but in the present finantial times and the 20% vat it has become increasingly hard to make the business viable. I met some fantastic people who I do not want to lose contact with and enjoyed the job however it is now time to move on and try something completely different maybe.

Just read on "Oscar" that the bin-men have caught up.

Had a visit from the bin-men today. It's the first time they've been for four weeks and they took half the rubbish. I've been storing foodscraps in my freezer for a fortnight because I didn't want them to rot outside. I put them out on my way to wotk this morning and they're still there. Should I bring them in and put them back in the freezer?
