Jeans! Usually at the auction they get no bids at all

Have you auctioned many pairs of Jeans?

Hollins, you must go there sometime.  The area is beautiful and very romantic and plenty of things to do and see.   I stayed at the Capo Di Monte and loved the place.  Bri Roberts stayed in Sorrento too and I think it was at the Grand Hotel President that had stunning views.
Many years ago, a young friend of mine told me that he was taking his girlfriend on holiday there as I had told him how nice the place was, but I told him to think about it carefully as the place was so romantic he could end up proposing to her.
A few months later when I spoke to him again he had proposed to her on the Isle of Capri.
I'm looking forward to seeing Dave's photo's of Sorrento

What a good memory you have, Hugo.

Yes, we have stayed at the Grand Hotel President and also at the Hotel Aminta next door on a previous visit and can certainly recommend both.

In Sorrento, one can catch ferries to Capri and Naples. Hop on a train to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Take a bus down the Amalfi coast to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

Sorrento is beautiful but has become very expensive since we were there last.

Like you say, Hugo, I am also looking foward to see DaveR's pics.

Is that Marina Grande in the photo?

I'm not sure if it is the Marina Grande in the picture.    If my memory serves me right the small harbour by the Capo di Monte was called the Marina Grande while the large harbour in the town was called the Marina Picolo.   It didn't make sense to our Italian guide either!
If I'm wrong on the names then I can only blame it on the Brandy and those delicious ice creams.       ZXZ

My walking friend Keith has been there this year and seemed to go every where while he was there Capri, Vesuvius, Pompei, Amalfi Drive etc etc and thoroughly enjoyed his time there.
Hollins you must include this in your places to visit list.     $good$

Just popped in quickly to say it is the Marina Grande, which oddly is the smaller of the two harbours. It's a lovely place to sit in the evening with a glass of Prosecco or two. 31 Degrees here this afternoon.

Here is a collage showing the view(daytime and evening) from one of the hotels shown in Dave R's pic.
Also a panorama showing part of the Bay of Naples.

Greetings to you too DaveR. We haven't made it as far south of Italy as you yet but here is a Good Morning forum pic from further north on Lake Maggiore.

Apart from business trips to the Rimini area some years ago, my Wife and I have never been to any Italian resorts.  Trying to plan something different to Portugal for our next holiday, has anyone any suggestions for our first trip to Italy?  It would only be a couple of weeks, and we would not be hiring a car so would have to rely on Public transport.  I have trouble with hills, however gradual, so the topography is also important. Thanks in advance.   ZXZ
