It is probably just Penrhyn Bay.  We (PB folk) are served from Rhos on Sea Exchange which is (apparently) waiting to be upgraded.

The speed always slows down as the kids get home from school and the service cannot cope with the extra load.   I check occasionally with my ISP and they advise me the problem is still waiting to be resolved.  I am with PlusNet now but also had the same problem with another outfit.

the forum still seems very slow to load pages at the moment, I can see other things on the internet at the usual (for Penrhyn Bay) speeds, yesterday at around 5pm the screen said something like 'cannot connect to server' perhaps it's a side effect of the popularity of this forum?

Could be a problem with the hosting outfit.

I just saw a blip now, it seems to be the sql database server, rather than the website, as the main page at www.threetownsforum.co.uk displays correctly all the time. Probably just a blip at our Hosting company, Heart Internet, but we can keep an eye on it.  ££$

I can report no blips, and no slowing down in processing speed.
Up here on The Orme, all is well!

Could be. I did tell DaveR to dry clean his tan Crimplene suit rather than throw it in the washer.

Will do. Was that the one I lent from you back in 1976 and never returned?

I noticed that pictures taken by Hugo were slow to open for me... then I looked at the detail and I realised that they were approx 650kb in size.

Why is it that when I try to post an image above 300kb I get a warning message, and the posting is disallowed?

None of Hugo's photos are above 200k in size. Photos above 300k will automatically be rejected, there's no need to post anything with a larger file size.

When I right click on Hugo's pix, they say  637kb,   650kb etc....  which contradicts what it says on the screen.
Anyhow, whatever the answer, those pictures of Hugo's always seem to open and unveil slowly,  as if they are decoding.

The image sizes are underneath the photo and I've just checked they're correct by downloading the photos and then seeing what the file size is. They all match. Must be your dodgy laptop...  :P  ;D

I think it's because there's a lot of photo's in the thread, that it opens slowly, which is usually the case, as they open slowly on my machine too.
