I have felt uncomfortable about some of the things posted, to the point that I rarely visit the thread. I agree with the action you have taken.

I concur with the previous sentiments. Some of the postings are more suited to the Barrack Room than to an open Forum.

I've not read any of the thread so I cannot comment, but I am very surprised that any member of this forum would post such material.I am 100% with Yorkie and everyone else on this, make it members only and I would go further------if a member persists in carrying on with this sort of stuff, kick him off the forum. (Thats provided its not Dave R LOL).  I think I have written about the problem I had with my completly innocent and niave idea of a Fathers and daughters, mums and sons free golf evening. To my horror google put searchers straight into a porn site. Needless to say I cancelled the whole idea immediately, and have spent most Tuesday evenings all summer in trying to explain why to potential participants. This terrible problem is being made worse through the internet

Yeah, having read back a little ... I think I am amongst those responsible for the recent ones that went beyond the pale.
Well, there had to be a line drawn at some stage.
Basically, I looked at a couple of jokes posted that day and thought...what?!!  surely they'll get deleted ??!.. but No,  so then I followed up with one which I had received and tickled me,  but in hindsight maybe wasn't appropriate (for the majority)... and was in a similar vein to the previous ones.
So, I'll shoulder my share of the blame...and then contribute tto he suggestions you have invited.

However, I am not qualified to judge what is appropriate for ''the majority''

So, Ian and Dave,  I invite you as moderators to do nothing more technical than simply delete (or censor)  whatever YOU feel doesn't belong.

Or...those (like Mike) who are more easily offended, just don't click on that thread!  No offence, but thats why I never look at Bellringing, Rally Cars or Eddie Stobart Truck spotting...

Job done.

The (suitably penitent) Fester.

Neither Dave nor I want to be censoring anything, Fester;  it goes against the grain for us to have to do anything of the sort. And it wasn't your jokes that started us thinking. But I believe the feelings of those who've posted about the matter are pretty clear, and we should respect the fact that a line has to be drawn, which seems to be concerning the use of graphic and explicit language in the forum.

So folks, from now on, no overtly explicit and graphic jokes, please. Subtlety and inference are the order of the day :-)))

Thanks.

October saw a large rise in visitors and pages viewed on the Forum. Over 2,100 people visited the Forum and the number of  pages viewed increased to 173,810 for the month, compared with 128,026 for September. If we extrapolate the pages viewed figure, that equates to over 2,000,000 page views a year.

  JUST FOR THE RECORD>

It took me quite a while before I found this header ''Suggestions'', (it is too well hidden) and realised there was some discussion, about the ''less than clean jokes''.most of which I had posted.

So guys, and gals, jusrt for the record, I contacted Ian,immediately I realsied, and I promised him, there would be no more from me.

If in future, any of you members, have a gripe, why not contact the member directly, by PM?

Just my two pence worth, for this excellent forum. - and I do love Llandudno!..

As a technical aside, Don, if you click on "Show unread posts since last visit" (top RH side of your browser window) it will always show you which topics have been posted to...since your last visit.
