Point Lynas on Anglesey is one of the best places in Wales if you want to see Dolphins.   Tellytubby was there this week and was treated to a display by the Dolphins and they leapt out of the water quite close to where he was.
By chance there was a BBC film crew there too and the Dolphins will be seen on Countryfile on a Sunday evening in the coming weeks

Excellent photos............. :)

The last photo reminds me, I meant to mention that a grey squirrel has been joining the birds eating by our back door, even venturing onto the the door mat.

Those Grey Squirrels are nice to see and it's funny watching them searching for food.    I've had a number of wire peanut feeders in the garden and the Squirrels have bitten the wire so that the peanuts drop on to the ground.      I was fed up of buying new feeders so I bought a Squirrel proof one and it works so only the small birds can feed on it now,
I also have a cast iron frog that is in two halves and put peanuts inside it for the Badgers but found out that the Squirrels are strong enough to push the top piece off and get to the peanuts

Yesterday afternoon I was just going out in the back garden when I saw feathers everywhere.     A Sparrowhawk had killed a Pigeon and was on top of it eating it.       It stayed there until I was about 4 feet away before flying off to the roof of my shed, just a short distance away.
When I went near the shed it flew off so I started to remove the dead Pigeon and tidy up the mess.
Mrs H told me later that while I was tidying up the Sparrowhawk had returned and unknown to me was only about 5 yards away perched on a bench
The bird then flew to next doors garden and perched on a tree looking straight in my direction.     I know it's nature but it's not nice seeing something like that happening in your own garden so as a precaution we have removed all the bird feeders , for the time being anyway.

A RARE moth has been found in abundance in its only known Welsh habitat.

Specialist surveys for the “horehound plume”, as part of the Cryptic Creatures of the Creuddyn project, found 1,109 caterpillars – also known as larvae - on the Great Orme in Llandudno.

The micro-moth is only found in Wales on the Creuddyn peninsula – the Llandudno, Rhos-on-Sea, Deganwy, Penrhyn Bay and Llandudno Junction areas – with most past records coming from the Great and Little Orme.

It was formerly present in Glamorgan but hasn’t been recorded there for more than 100 years.

This is not local wildlife but still worth watching..       I saw the ITV Wales news last night and the clip is of a rare Hoopoe that has been feeding in the Swansea area.       It's a really beautiful bird and I was lucky once to have a quick glimpse of one in the Wrexham area.     Tellytubby and I had a walk along the River Clwyd years ago and a Hoopoe was spotted there, unfortunately for us it arrived about an hour after we had left the area                 :(

Re: Local Wildlife.............Couple with child scale fence at NW seal colony

A family has been reported to the police after scaling fencing to take photos of a protected seal colony in North Wales. Wildlife guardians said the intruders could have sparked a stampede and caused pups to starve to death.

North Wales Seal Research Organisation (NWSRO) shared images online of two adults and a child inside the no-go zone, including one of a man on a beach close to the colony. The group said it was “shocked and saddened” to see people disregarding wildlife safety in such a way.

One of the largest snake species in Europe has been found in the roofs and walls of houses in Wales, researchers have found.
These aesculapian snakes originally escaped from the Welsh Mountain Zoo, in Colwyn Bay, Conwy, around 50 years ago and there have been a total of 240 snakes found in the surrounding area since.

There were reports of a Snow Bunting on the Great Orme so Tellytubby who is a keen bird watcher arranged with me earlier in the week to combine a walk on the Great Orme with a spot of bird watching.
Anyway today at 9.00 am we called it off as it was raining heavily here and in Prestatyn        :(
A few years ago we were on the West Shore by the Black Rocks looking for a Snow Bunting that had been seen in the area and although we saw it we couldn't get near enough to take a decent photo.    There were other photographers there with camera lenses like Bazookas  and one of the photographers called Dave posted some great photos of the Snow Bunting on the forum
I think that Dave also posted some brilliant photos of the Llyn Crafnant area on here too

BEAUTIFUL images show the breadth of marine life which washed up on Rhos-on-Sea beach following Storm Darragh.
